Thank you. I've listened to Walker before, but I've found his critically acclaimed work boring. Do you have any recommendations?
>>73792227
>>73792581
well the thing about walker is that he comes from a much more poetic/"artistic" place in the baroque pop (bordering on art pop, really) realm, heavily influenced by romanticist tone poems and singer/songwriters like jacques brel, and that can be extremely off-putting for those just coming from the likes of the beach boys or the zombies
my advice would be to listen to the walker brothers, the very accessible pop group he was a part of before going solo, and slowly ease your way into his mind and intents, and then relisten to his four numbered solo albums in order, as they're increasingly challenging, and i promise you'll have a field day.
this song in particular is and was very popular and even showcases phil spector's "wall of sound" production technique, also made popular by brian wilson on pet sounds:

Songs: Ohia and Boards of Canada are 21st century. Wilco used to be there too, and I still like them, but not as much anymore. Ashes of American Flags is a great song though. Contemporary music, especially Rock, is a little too effete and uninspired for my taste.

I was honestly really undecided which one to go with. With oden on our side was the first one I heard and basically my bridge from metallica to extreme metal back in highschool, fate of norns was, well good but I guess I could have left it out. . . . and twilight of the thundergod is probably my overall favorite because of the hero and live for the kill.
