Most stereo stuff from 67/68 is pretty dire

>67

Yeah Beatles stuff is especially bad, the new Sgt Pepper's stereo remix actually turns it into a listenable album by modern standards.
Don't even get me started on Hendrix though
>guitar is double tracked, one panned hard right, and one panned hard left
>>73788386
but that's awesome
>guitar is mostly on the left but there's a quieter yet still audible sound on the right
>they're playing the same thing
listening to it in headphones is madness.

Is it the same piece of audio?
Could be an attempt at the Haas Effect.
>song doesn't start

Sonic Youth has a single (feels more like an EP) where all but one of the tracks does this

It's not a song it's a piece. Songs are SUNG and generally have WORDS. HAHAHAHA aren't we funny? Is this what you were taught at conservatoire mister Stephen Foster? Everybody we've got a Stephen Foster over here! A fucking Stephen Foster! A great comedian. The beloved entertainer. Stephen Foster. Fucking kill yourself turbopleb.

Inspired by The Ramones no doubt.

It's not a piece it's nothing. Pieces are PLAYED and generally have NOTES.

Dark Times indeed. It was almost as if the mono guys made bad stereo mixes on purpose
fucking luddites could not even into wall of sound
I don't even use panning, just widening. Panning is only good for balancing, doubling/ADT and separating two similar sounds (two synths or something). First two of those examples I would consider widening anyway
I find unbalanced mixes unappealing. One side is always slightly louder/brighter/bigger. It's very obvious and unnatural
