I've been playing guitar for almost 10 years. Don't know where my level's at but I usually play stuff from artists like Brendon Small, Mastodon, Baroness, Queens of the Stone Age and Acid Bath on my electric guitar. On my acoustic I'm usually just playing random stuff I feel like playing. Bob Dylan, American Football, Mac Demarco, Squidbillies outro theme song, the kind of music Adult Swim has playing before and after each commercial break. But I'm having this problem recently. Whether I try to learn a new song, improvise over a song, or make something up on my own I get no sense of fulfillment after the fact. I don't try to learn something new out of a drive like I used to. I feel no determination to learn something new anymore. I just learn something new out of boredom. Whenever I try something new I'm like "... I guess I'll do that". And after I'm done I say "well that's it then..." I'm not saying that I've known everything there is to know about guitar at this point and I know that when you're bored of something you just give up and do something else. But the thing is that I don't want to give up playing guitar completely because I've spent too much time, money, and dedication towards it. It's just this weird conundrum I'm going through where I'm not having fun playing guitar anymore. Any advice /gg/?

You burned out by playing to much.

Take like a couple months "off," from playing guitar and try out a new hobby. Loose yourself in something new.

Then when the time is right, you will find yourself wanting to play guitar again, and enjoying when yourself when you are playing.

I want to get stereo reverb in real time, without buying another amp.

Can I just send the mono signal of my guitar, from my Focusrite, into a stereo reverb pedal, and then send the stereo signal back into the Focusrite? I think this is possible.

Playing fast makes you a better guitar player.

If there were two players, both absolutely equal, except one of them could play parts faster than the other, he would be the greater, more skilled player.

Also pedals are a meme and a waste of money. Shitty players use and obssess over gear to compensate for their poor playing. It never works though.

juan alderete (the mars volta) and nick reinhart (tera melos, death grips) are the biggest gearheads in the business

they are also better players than you, more popular than you, and make more money than you.

Plebeian detected. Try coming up with riffs that are more memorable and fitting for the song than he did. He had a great ear for music.
He wasn't playing blues, bro. He didn't need ridiculous runs, and stupid tapping, it sounded good without it... and that is what we're all here for, right? Music? It's not about who has the best technique, it's what sounds good

>>73785531
They are popular because a lot of people are fucking stupid. It's really that simple. Read the comments on that article, people seriously saying Grohl is/was more talented and a better songwriter than Cobain. It's laughable.

Grohl would be working in McDonalds right now if it wasn't for Nirvana blowing up... and he didn't even play on the some of the songs.

thanks man. if you can't do it fast right away just start really slow and understand the rhythm behind it. Idk how to explain really. Like think of how each note fits into the beat of the metronome, then start slowly and work your way up to full speed.

here's the ending part (which is trickiest for me) at a moderate bpm then at full speed.

Not only that most of the riffs here strike a different mood, surf music isn't just about the guitar. you still have drums and vocals that don't fit the surf music.genre when you play play metal songs without the distortion

I never played a PRS before. but i agree they sound good from the demos i've seen, and they also look pretty fucking beautiful, i love that design.

What do you think makes them the "best guitars out there today"? what makes them better than my Ibanez RG prestige?
>>
>>73788233
I'm just really lusting after a PRS 509 right now. It's like the wood of a Les Paul (Mahogany back + Maple top) mixed with the pickup configuration of an HSH Strat with coil splitting and a trem. It's like the best of all main guitars put into one.

I don't know a lot about Ibanez.
>>
>>73788233
not the guy you replying to but
i think the prs design comes off as a lightweight les paul and it sounds quite similar too. the neck isn't looking too bad either.

rg prestige might have a great neck but i don't like the tone of ibanez for some reason.
i really wanted a prestige a few years ago, i even tried it up at a music shop and was impressed. but my taste in guitars evolved

I've been using the justinguitar beginner's course as a point of reference since I'm just starting out for about 2 months now. How important is it to cover every single chord transition that all learned chords can make? It's something like 270+ transitions to learn which isn't bad, but don't some of these transitions rarely happen?

I've got two tips for people who have pains after playing.
One is controlling tension. Got that one from Rick Graham, Guthrie Govan also talks about it in his books.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsJfpQJJ50k
Basically eliminate any un-needed movement and force. It even makes you faster once you do that.

The other one is a little stupid and only applies to a few guitarists.
Stop playing on a shitty guitar. And by shitty I mean "chink shit" tier. My first guitar had awful ergonomy on the fretboard and it just led to discomfort.

One thing which can instantly help is to measure how much force you are using to fret the notes. I found out that I was using way too much power each time I pressed a note on fretboard and that led to unnecessary wrist issues etc pain after practice sessions. You only need to use lightest amount of force to get proper note. Do it and be surprised.

hughes and kettner tubemeister 18. My first tube amp after about 15 years of playing, I was skeptical of the tube meme, but the meme is real. I was playing an orange crush before and its alright but the clarity the h&k has is really nice.

8.5/10 I was impressed.

Dunno how to "challenge" that lol other than learn it and play it at a faster bpm?
>>

did i say it is?

im just starting to learn about /gg/ drama. but there is no tutorial

I'm for this. We pick a backing track and each poster solo over it, then we loop it and have a long track of many solos

obvious samefag

sounds nothing like nirvana and now make the rest of the song to fit around it.

happy birthday :D
>>
>>73792703
Let me correct you:
You played guitar for years without showing a tiny bit of creativity or originality, playing only songs made by other people, while i actually created original music
>>
>>73792888
thanks anon :)
>>
>>73792703

kek
>>
>>73792703
And i also like how you pretend my piece is just "3 chords". it just screams how insecure you are about your own claims

If you were really believing your claims, you wouldn't need to trick yourself and tell yourself my songs are just 3 chords.

I think you might have liked what i made and you are scared to admit you liked anything by a "Gay israeli". i mean let's be real here, your posts just sound like you are very insecure
>>
>>73793000
you have been falling for a troll for 5 hours and a half, you may be a great guitar player but you can never accuse someone else of being insecure
>>
Lmao this general devolved into a pissing contest, what a shame. Why do guitarrists have so fragile egos?
>>
>>73793029
>crazyaga
>great player
Am I getting russed?
>>
>>73793000
Please stop, I'm cringing. You're embarassing youself with these 3 chords "piece".
It is three chords, i'm not making that up. Three basic chords with some add notes and a repetitive riff. That's what your advanced nirvana-esque song is.

>>73792937
Dude, "creating original music" like your "music" is what i do while i'm noodling with the instrument and playing random ideas. That is what you're so proud about: random little ideas.
>>
>>73793029
It's not out of insecurity, it's out of him being childish and saying objectively wrong things about my music.

Samuel sometimes follows me to other threads to harass me there, it's not just on /gg/. he clearly has something personal against me - i guess i just trigger him in all the wrong ways.
>>
>>73793058
most of the time, tripfags/namefags equals dunning krueger
>>
>>73793058
Just playing a solo is not creating an original song. if you were truly an original musician you would have made some original songs by now, but nope. you play guitars for 5 years and you managed to have zero original ideas for a song.

And even then, I saw your "noodling", wasn't a huge portion of your noodling just riffs and licks you learned to play from songs made by other people?

You are not even an actual musician.

You did not create an original piece of music in your entire life yet you scream about how talented you are.

Copying songs made by others and performing them is not some sort of a special talent, Samuel

This is the piece of music we are talking about:
https://clyp.it/ny2jfh5m

That's really all i need to do to debunk your claim that my piece is just "Em C D". anyone who will actually listen to this will see how stupid you are right now

Yeah, Way Huge has another muff pedal that's better than that one for starters

what the fuck is m7b5 good for, it always sounds weird and shitty, even when its the chord from the harmony, fuck you m7b5, i already have triads, also 7 and m7 suck my dick for a chance to appear a little, why should i use your ugly sounding ass
>>
>>73793247
I'll show that your music is just E C D in a very objective way. Wait just a bit.

>>73793274
Play the high strings and hammer on the bass note

Oki i'm waiting.

But i just want to remind you that while you are bitching about my piece of music, you are a person who never made an original piece of music his entire life.

There's only one way to resolve this laddies. Both of you a guitar battle, NOW!!!!! Talking is cheap, but a real "musician" can listen to a backing track and improvise or compose something on the spot. I will choose the backing track, you guys play over it, and by strawpoll, we are gonna choose the winner. Don't you dare to pussy out now.

CRAZYAGA

VS

SAMUEL

WHO WILL WIN THIS EPIC BATTLE OF /GG/ SHITPOSTERS?
>>
>>73793270
which one?
>>
Theres no objectivity in music theory, there just isnt

You can use the notes from the C scale and say youre playing in A minor, sure even if the bass is doing C on the root, even if theres a c chord on each strong tempo

those are just convention and suggestions, that are broken and defied constantly

music theory is a tool for artists to make beautyful things it is not meant for autist to fight each other
>>
>>73788918
bolt on neck would be good too

>>73793330
>WHO WILL WIN THIS EPIC BATTLE OF /GG/ SHITPOSTERS?
everyone loses

>>73793330
>There's only one way to resolve this laddies. Both of you a guitar battle, NOW!!!!!

that would be interesting, sounds like crazyaga knows his theory and writes cool progressions, but probably the other autist is much better at
>>
>>73793330
To make it more interesting, I will choose a backing track's style than neither of you are comfortable with. So, no pussy now. Don't use your mouth, use your guitars to solve your differences.
>>
>>73793331
Russian Pickle, thing sounds way better. Owned the swollen pickle for years but this one blows it out of the water imo
>>
cont ..
>>73793352

much better at shredding.

they could try to impress us each with his own skill

and finally as a way to put a friendly ending to it, yaga could do a backing track while the other guy improvises over it

>>73793355
>, I will choose a backing track's style th
im fairly confident that yaga will lose a one on one shredding contest. but there is more than shreding to playing gutiar
>>
>>73793352
>>73793371

I mean, crazyaga could solo using chords, and throw some interesting lines if he knows his theory.

Samuel might just play the pentatonic scale, but notes don't matter in here. What we care about is who can phrase in a more musical manner. Shredding or not, it doesn't matter, we are gonna judge their "musicianship".

This could lead some interesting results. However, notice how both of them have gone silent, they are scared shitless.

Yeah but even before bending the note go sharp you have huge amount of useless force if you are not aware of it.
