Mozart probably would play metal, not even trying to troll here. The only reason he played classical is because piano and shit was all the musical instruments they had back then. It was either piano if you were a solo artist or an entire orchestra if you wanted to play in a band.
once mozart got hold of a true electric guitar he would probably compose some kick ass metal shreds and form a metal band unlike any you ever seen. I would describe his sound as somehwhere as a mix between metallica, pantera, and slayer, definitely some heavy stuff but I feel like he would go a different route and as his music evolves you would hear more lead badass solos and less rhythmic heavy riffs.
His later works would probably be almost entirely shredding solos played underneath screaming vocals that would go together like bread and wine. Listening to it now. I dunno, it's less fun and enjoyable than their previous records to me. Slower pace, abrupt changes of rhythm like Slayer but shoved everywhere just for the heck of it, boring melodies, overall repetitiveness… I miss epic melodic solos, wild high energy guitars that didn't need to scream prog to be good. This album sounds like some weird time signature experiment played on one note to me.
Maybe this is its beauty and it needs several listens to get into, but I only liked these rhythm shifts when done by Slayer or Death—who also had so much more than just this prog schtick going for them. So far, Justice is only above black album for me, below the first 3 records definitely.

I dunno. I like some of their moments, like opening guitars on "Holy Wars", but most other leave me mostly ambivalent. I hate social commentary in music too.
Anyway, maybe to each his own, but for me Death and Slayer are far superior to Megadeth in almost every respect. Maybe aside for Mustaine's distinctive style and some wild, uncontrollable feel.

Rust in Peace. Really all of the early Megadeth stuff is god-tier but Rust in Peace is one of the few perfect albums out there.

Really I place Megadeth that high because they are the only one of the big four that can still put out a decent and original record these days. Not that they haven't had their misses too, but they occasionally still release good shit while the rest of the big 4 may as well be dead. I'm also a Mustaine fan, he was a massive influence on me when I first started getting into music in a serious way.

I don't really care about the "later" stages of bands. Even the greatest of them can't invent the wheel twice. The big 4 were eventually left behind in a burgeoning metal of the '80s, and it's only natural. These bands have been around for like what, more than 30 years? I don't think they were saving all of these sweet riffs for their 10th album. Let's face it—their new material is irrelevant today in metal; few would really want it if they changed anything; old fans would get offended it's not the thing they liked, and new auditory would reject them as poser dads.
All in all I don't care that Metallica or any other bands put out shit albums later in their career. What matters to me is their best years.
