A7X is one of those bands that I grew up loving but never become purely nostalgia or cringe or outgrown. I still love them and see them as talented just as much as I always did. Their debut would probably be a contender for that list too but I wanted to keep it diverse

MPP bothers me in particular because it's always described as great pop...but I don't get it.

although rateyourmusic.com gets a bad rep around here sometimes, it's honestly still a pretty good resource if you know which genre you want to explore. looking at similar artists on last.fm is an option too, though that won't necessarily lead you to similar artists in other languages.
