Well, most women are into black guys now, and a large part of the music industry is run off of women being sexually attracted to the man making the music.

Another reason why is that people manage to wrap things around so much now that if a white man is signed to a record label and says something about race, people will get the urge to tweet out about it saying that he's a racist and his record sells will drop. The early 80s had a balance of great white singer songwriters though which gave us some variety - Joe Jackson, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello, Elton John.

Because rock, the main "stronghold" for white musicians, has fragmented into a million obscure subgenres.

Are there even any pure "rock" acts today? Even indie rock has fragmented into indie psych, garage rock, indie pop etc.
