what does /mu/ think of this album
is it really trash?
>>73768869
fuck you faggot. Make some original content. this conversation happens daily.
yes. yes it is.
>>73768869
make one fucking grunge thread and fucking stay there.
No, but it is very popular and "mainstream", which is part of the reason why /mu/ hates it. Honestly, all the songs were alright, but Smells like Teens Spirit was just trash for me. Not sure if it was because it was played out too much or something. It did its purpose, which killed dad and hair rock and made normies get away from the bland power ballads of the time.
>>73768879
then why dont you start an original thread instead of complaining about it
>>73768869
stop posting nirvana threads
>broke records
>basically kickstarted a movement
>killed fag rock
>made record companies look at the indie/grunge scene
>remembered to this day
You tell me, op.
>>73768987
>says the anon that probably makes grime threads and unironically worship that """""thing"""""
>>73768953
I do weekly you fuckboy.
>>73768995
>>broke records
What records?
>>basically kickstarted a movement
You mean killed it.
>>killed fag rock
It is fag rock though
>>made record companies look at the indie/grunge scene
Thus destroying it. All the good ones were already on major labels.
>>remembered to this day
so is other "fag rock"
>>73768995
word. never enjoyed the record so much myself but I like In Utero and I love listening for the sounds that influenced Nirvana as wells as listening for future bands that channel their sound. & Cobain was a very interesting person regardless of his mythos
is foo fighters the best thing nirvana produced?
drain you is lit
>>73769048
>>What records?
>>You mean killed it
It only died when Kurt died, since he was basically the figure head of the genre/movement. It made people snap out of their depressive moods and smell the flowers.
>>it is fag rock though
Explain your reasoning. Bonus points if you don't use buzzwords.
>>Thus destroying it
>genre gets noticed
>destroyed
?
>>so other fag rock
Since it doesn't play in the radio all day until people ear bleeds, i say no.
>>73769236
This. Breed and lounge Act are also my favorite.
>>73769048
No. This is fag rock, and what Nirvana saved you from hearing for the first 10 years of your life
>>73769320
Google shows no broken records
>he was basically the figure head of the genre/movement
You are a child.
>Bonus points if you don't use buzzwords
You started with the "fag rock" shit, why not apply your own standards to yourself?
>?
It was a close-knit scene that blossomed throughout the 80's
After it became big the scene was dead, you had hundreds of shitty knock off bands move to Seattle to get a record deal, stinking the place up. It became the new L.A.
Everything it was in the 80's died completely when SLTS became MTV fodder.
>it doesn't play in the radio all day
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
>>73769453
>replace one gay fad with another
Wow, like every fad ever, who could have seen that coming?
Edgy album for depressed teens
>>73769524
So all /mu/core?
So many faggots on this site who hate music popular among normies.
The album is quite good and it led to the whole altrock grunge explosion thing, which although being a fad we did end up getting Radiohead (Pablo Honry exists for any Kid A shithead who forgot) and Foo Fighters out of it (well not Foo Fighters if some dumbass was more careful with a fucking shotgun).
>>73769587
Getting Foo Fighters out of it was not a good thing. Uninspired buttrock.
>>73768995
>>broke records
No
>>basically kickstarted a movement.
Pixies sonic youth dinosaur Jr Melvins
>>killed fag rock
Everyone was sick of by the 90s
>>made record companies look at the indie/grunge scene.
You mean as a marketable ploy to sell "authentic"
>>remembered to this day
Alright
Worst part is I like Nirvana
nah. it's songs are pretty good despite the dated production.
>be me
>1991
>friend goes to hear mixes of Nevermind (his friend works at Geffen)
>"they're making Nirvana sound like Guns N Roses"
>>73768949
>it did its purpose, which killed dad and hair rock
Are all /mu/tants this fucking pretentious and sophical? What the fuck are you calling "dadrock"? Prog, Funk, and Disco were LONG gong, and Punk and Metal were the big thing. Hair Rock ruined music, though.
>>73770989
not quite guns and roses but definitely over produced
mainly what andy wallace did on the final mix (drum samples and silly chorus & digital reverb effects)
>>73769824
>No
Broke multiple. Pushed Michael Jackson off the charts.
>Pixies sonic youth dinosaur Jr Melvins
All of these bands are trash, and don't even sound like Nirvana. I'm tired of this argument.
>Everyone was sick of by the 90s
Fair enough, yeah
>You mean as a marketable ploy to sell "authentic"
Again, fair enough, but they still did.
>>73772528
>mainly what andy wallace did on the final mix (drum samples and silly chorus & digital reverb effects)
Butch really wore them out to the point where they hired an idiot to mix the thing.
It was a good record, there were good mixes of it even, but the final version is the product of a band being pushed around too much in the studio.
>>73773621
>All of these bands are trash
Don't you dare insult J Mascis.
>>73773621
>All of these bands are trash
Imagine if Albini produced it like he did with In Utero.
