How do I not do this without making the guitar too quiet?

She's Lost Control
>bass + fuzz
>bass + fuzz wah
>distorted bass
>Bass actually has its own bass line and not just following the rhythm guitar

The fact that this common enough to make a post of is just depressing.

Just enjoy the little things
>Bass plays the main riff and the guitar is either absent or just for atmosphere.
>song has 2 basses doing separate things and no guitars.

I usually like songs that have a big guitar sound to them, or multiple guitars at once, bass is usually nearly squeezed out of the mix, or set entirely in one stereo channel.
I'm a guitarist and I think the bass is equally as important as guitar, in all honesty.
There are many songs I like just because of the bassline. Or the bassline comes in with something, at a certain time, and it just takes the song to another level.
Bass is a very overlooked instrument to be completely honest.

use EQ and high pass filters to carve the bass frequencies out of the guitars, and pan the guitars out of the center. unless it's for some stylistic effect you probably shouldn't pan the bass
>>73765516
I usually center the bass unless I set the guitar so loud that it occupies an entire speaker, in which case setting the main guitar and drums heavily offset separates them well. Sometimes I also mix the main guitar in mono, in which case bass is there centered to add color, not play an actual bassline.

>tfw you've played in so many shit local metalcore bands just because you were the only guy with a bass and the idiots in your high school knew bands were meant to have bassists because of Rock Band, but didn't know basses were allowed to do anything interesting
It was a weird time, but I made some decent pocket change playing bass for everybody, since no one else wanted to buy a bass
>tfw you want to buy a bass when you get into Sisters of Mercy
>tfw $400 later you find out they just used a synthesizer most of the time, and the hot chick bassist was just there for show
Th-thanks, Andrew
