To reply to OPs question, no, it's not unusual, when I'm not looking for new music I usually just look into live performances of artists I like to not listen to the same stuff the same way all the time.

Depends on who you are. Some people constantly crave new sounds, others prefer to fully take in anything new they hear for a few days before moving on to another album.
