Also I'm not saying that as a fan of Korn, just as a keen student of popular music.
To present a song like that(apparently based on the vocalist's real-life experiences to boot, and achieved through the band's producer on that album pretty much going out of his way to psychologically abuse said vocalist until he deemed him to be sufficiently unhinged to properly perform the song) in a fairly straightforward MTV-friendly rock album format strikes me as considerably ballsier and more subversive than screaming about rape and Nazis over feedback to an audience of 15 people.

I have. I saw Prurient live back in like 2004. Saw the first show Ramleh ever played in the US. Was never a big fan of the whole thing though, mostly just went along because I had nothing better to do or because of the promise of free booze.

He was actually by far the most interesting performer of the night and the only one who seemed to be trying to do something more than play his own take on Boyd Rice and Throbbing Gristle albums from decades ago. I still ended up selling all the shit I picked up at his merch table within a few months though.
