Hip hop is very fond of pop culture, of course MC's will try to include plenty of such current references in their verses (muh zeitgeist). It's also one of the reasons why hip hop does not age well since people now in their early twenties (hip hop's main target audience) are probably lost when playing an old Public Enemy or Wu Tang record.

This desu. I don't personally have any interest in his products or philosophies but I don't understand the bitterness and cynicism regarding his success.
