Both C Ionian and D Dorian are modes. They are modes of the C Major Scale.

The C Major Scale is a collection of notes, generated by using the scale formula "R, W, W, H, W, W, W, H" with C as the Root.

C Ionian is the C Major Scale, played with the C as the Tonic, D as the Supertonic, E as the Mediant, etc.

D Dorian is the C Major Scale, played with the D as the Tonic, E as the Supertonic, E as the Mediant etc. Creating a different vibe/sound.

you can tell the difference between a good solo that is written in advance and just an improvised solo.
i would say the most distinct feature of a solo is that it start slow and follow the melody. when getting towards the end of the solo there is legato and shredding. but i like when there isn't a too much shredding this is why i like glam rock solos

well there isn't a constant rule to everything, its just a personal preference.
like in music there is a thing called "rising and descending pitches" so you kind of building tension to the part where you go off. you can do it however you want as long as it sounds good.

reverb. delay first makes the repeats act a little differently but doesn't give a very crazy sound. plenty of people who don't play shoegaze put delay first. reverb before dirt makes it sound massive though.

Gotta kinda second a lot of what the other guy said. I'd say as far as basses you want go, aim for two really nice ones, you'll be happier with that in the long run (I'd personally go for a nice midrange priced precision and the RIC for the most versatile setup). For amp stuff the head you have picked out is ok but look into a better can or else the whole setup will sound bad. Also instead of a mesa and sansamp you should just get one really nice preamp like a Darkglass microtube. Hell, you could skip that and the Bassman and just get a Darkglass head for convenience
