New vinyl thread, what's new in /mu/'s collection?
really dig this album
is good j-pop album
very kawaii and super moe
you must hear it to enjoy life
Anyone have the 2016 reissue of DSotM? The comments on discogs imply that the quality is good but theres a ton of people elsewhere complaining about them being warped or scratched right out of the box or just noisy in general. I've been looking for an original at a reasonable price and condition but can't find anything.
Recently got Madlib - Shades of Blue, Ommadawn, Songs of Leonard Cohen and some Nick Cave stuff
>>73708633
just buy an original version. these were sold so much you can usually buy a DSOTM original for 5 or 10 bucks.
>>73708080
Yeah the new album is amazing. Normally not a fan of metal but this mix of ambient in the album is extremely well done. You're collection is fucking huge by the way.
>>73708962
i want something that isn't scratched all to shit with a displayable cover. most online are heavily degraded from use or overpriced
Recently got a hold of this and despite what people say it isn't all that noisy on side A
>>73709705
Kill yourself
>>73709705
>>73709728
>Damn.
>>73708013
You didn't buy the Bobby Caldwell album just for What You Won't Do For Love, did you?
You can buy that separately on a heart shaped vinyl.
>>73708633
If you were to buy the reissue, grab the European one.
Just picked this up when I saw Vasudeva last week. I preordered a special pressing of their new album that should be coming in soon too.
Just preordered Pure Guava repress, still waiting on another couple of records in the mail.

picking a uk seller on amazon for 'new' would accomplish this correct?
>>73711941
I think Discogs is better, but Amazon works too.
Too lazy for pics so here's a screenshot of latest adds to discogs
Got the Nico today along with a Blind Boy Fuller comp that i've yet to add to the collection
>>73712003
Wow, nothing good huh? shit sucks man. Better luck next time...
>>73712027
Wat
>>73712045
don't listen to him, he's a pleb for at least not liking the bottom three
>>73712141
I'd be pretty concerned if someone doesn't really like Flipper.
Although I get if the avant classical/jazz album isn't everyone's taste
>>73712374
nice t-shirt fag
>>73712393
it's a button down but thanks man
>>73708013
Is that the new reissue of Hissing Fauna?
>>73709705

>>73712374

>>73712448
i'm a gook but nice observation
The through the looking glass reissue from a month ago is worth it, for anyone considering it
>>73709705
Why would you ever get that?
>>73712003
Nice pickups, love that Nico release
>>73712592
Forgot pic
>inb4 phone poster

>phone poster
Why can't you be a cool guy and transfer that image from your phone to your computer and change the file name so no one knows you own a cell phone? Pleb.
>>73710151
No, I just found it for a dollar at goodwill, good shape too.
>>73712661
lmao wew
>>73712418
Nope, 2007. Found it at my local record shop.
heres the ones in my living room
>>73708013
good call OP
my newest vinyl as well
The green single is some very limited release early 2000s Danish electronic music. No clue how it came to a thrift store in Colorado. Not really worth listening to but cute looking.
>>73708633
really, find a good shape original.
>>73712614
Mirin the Love but man why they gotta ruin the cover with that blue strip on top.
Velvets album is on yellow vinyl too.
>>73712972

Really love that Bobby Caldwell. Props

>>73712592
Damn (haha) did I miss something or did /mu/ 's opinion change from half thinking like 7-8.5 and the other half like 1-4, into just complete hatred for the album?
>>73713154
Yeah, I guess after sitting on it for a while it left a bitter taste.
>>73713614
not as good as his past stuff but the hype was like 100x as much, a bitter taste is the perfect way to describe this album
Just picked these up the other day
>>73709705
something about trap hiphop on vinyl seems kinda gross to me for some reason, even though it could still make sense for a trad wax dj to spin some for a party
I posted earlier with my discogs, here's my Blind Boy Fuller comp. rockin that R Crumb artwork
>>73709705
>getting hiphop on vinyl
Recently picked up Slanted and Enchaned, Songs About Leaving, Crack-Up, and I'm waiting on the Hissing Fauna and OK Computer releases to arrive.
>>73712990
Need to get Turned on Bach eventually
>>73714862
Plenty of hip-hop is good on vinyl. Sample heavy, or well orchestrated hip-hop is really nice.
>>73709705
>stacking records
>>73714862
eh, stuff that would be really improper to listen to on vinyl is unlikely on vinyl anyway.
Recently bought To Pimp A Butterfly.
Waiting on Holographic Principle and Untitled Unmastered, also might pick up Master of Reality and Atrocity Exhibition later on.
Pretty excited about getting my whole turntable system set up.
>>73716173
What table did you get?
>>73716181
Started with the newbie one. AT-LP120 with the USB port. Didn't want the USB but that's all I could find.
>>73709705
>opening it
Why?
This is all I've got so far
>>73716246
is that the 2016 DSotM reissue or an original? if reissue how is the quality?
Removed cousins I've never met were sent to the old folk's home.
They had a lot of vinyl, like, one metric shit-ton.
Grandma calls me up and asks if I want it all.
Naturally, I said yes.
Took me about two days to sort through it all.
>Threw out the 78s
They were damaged if they weren't shattered, some to the point where they would fucking destroy my needle if it hit certain parts.
>Threw out the V-discs
Same situation. My only regret is I don't know if they're worth anything, but I can't get 'em back now, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A lot of the LPs were in good condition.
Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby.
Crosby's voice is gold.
I've been listening to christmas carols for two days now.
Help, /mu/.
>pic semi-related, an album I bought a bit ago.
>>73716348
Mines is the 2011 remastered, it sounds really good tbqh
If you're skeptical about buying the 2016 one. You should probably look for an Original one or the 2011 one
If the record scratches our sounds weird you can always take a toothpick and run it through the "creases" and try to remove any dust or anything that's in there. That's what the dude at the record store i go to said i could do to try and fix a record
>>73716479
Honestly that sounds pretty bad for the record.
>>73716490
well i mean you're not pressing hard on them, kinda just gently run through the lines. maybe even put some cotton on the tip. idk bro lol
>>73716521
for me a brush works super well, thin, soft bristles.
>>73716479
>you can always take a toothpick and run it through the "creases" and try to remove any dust or anything that's in there
That made me physically cringe to read
What sick bastard thought this is a good idea?
>>73716479
>you can always take a toothpick and run it through the "creases" and try to remove any dust or anything that's in there
What's the point of keeping a record collection if you ruin them all like this?
Speaking of getting a new set-up going, is there any essential accessories I'll be needing? I already planned on getting a carbon fiber brush, and I was looking at getting a cork mat.
>>73716569
pls I never said that i've done it ;^(
it was just word of mouth
