I bet this cover is about the project to resurrect the mammoth. The book comes out Tuesday.
>>
>>73699084
Not a masterpiece like their debut but still phenomenal.
>>
Never heard of this band. Can somebody give me the rundown? Should I bother listening to this?
>>
>>73699325
Flotation Toy Warning is a band from London, UK, formed in 2001. Their sound has been described as a cross between space rock and chamber pop, with musical similarities to bands such as Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, Sparklehorse, The Unicorns, and Air.
>>
>>73699084
looks like boring 'post rock'
>>
>>73699352
Sounds cool. I'll five it a go!
>>
>>73699325
They only have two albums, Bluffer's Guide to the Flight Deck which came out in 2004 and is likely the most underrated album in the world. It's neo-psychedelia with a very unique style and cryptic and poetic lyrics about fears, lost love and death. It feels very nostalgic and melancholic but I can't describe the full experience in words.
This is their second album which came out this year. It's fantastic as well but it fails to grip me with its atmosphere the way the first album could. My favourite song on it is probably Controlling the Sea but I gotta give it more listens.

Their first album was sub-/mu/core circa 2009.
>>
desu, I think to qualify for AOTY, you have to be progressive.
The Machine That Made Us sounds pleasant, but this whole album could've been released in 1980. even the name is outdated.

If you think that everything humans experience can be described perfectly accurate with our current language you're short sighted and a fool. Often times the indescribable carries the most meaning

Your assessment of bgtfd is vapid and pseudo-intellectual. What makes the album great isn't indescribable, you just don't know how to do it.

And also, that isn't 'often times' (kys pedantic scum, but that's mostly irrelevant) the case. In order to learn something from consumption of media, a listener needs to be attentive to the specifics. All your doing is letting the good vibes wash over you myyaaaaan, all you can decide after that is whether or not you like it. You have no place in a discussion of flotation toy warning's relevancy in the larger music world, or even of their music amongst albums of a similar ilk
>>
>>73699084
OP, I'm going to kick your ass

This. I'm sure you enjoy the album but if you want to discuss music in any meaningful way then what you wrote (>>73699381) doesn't help. For better discussions deeper reflection upon the music is warranted. Describing the emotions it brings out in you has its place but offers little insight into the music itself.
