What do you know about portable music? The idea is great but there is not enough releases. So, every track on the album was made on the go (no matter if it was a crowdy street or midnight bus, urbanistic cities or deep nature).
Of course, before recording we tried to dig through some obscure places to record the EVP and other wierd stuff to mix it. If you find something unnatural don't be afraid electronic voice is believed to be a myth, digital artifact or a kind of city legends and who knows how real it is. Thanks for listening ;)

I really like this. I mean there is something a bit cocky about naming your album The Basement Tapes, but these are songs are well put together. There's actually something kind of slowcore-ey about it all, though I can't recall what exactly it's reminding me of. Great precise guitar work, for whatever reason fast arpeggios with a pick like that have always given me trouble. But yeah, good shit. I like the mouse too.

I did listen to this and i was glad that it sounded cosy. Hnw and noise 2017 often sounds too digital and no-effort. First track was harmonicaly nice and cosy but not soft and sweet. The cover was ok. Good use of acustics.

>>73701342
yo, this >>73700117 dude here. Been listening to this a good bit in the past few weeks and I've really dug it. I'm a sucker for nice sudden dynamic shifts, and that's utilized really well over the course of the album. Expectedly my favorite parts are the quieter acoustic based bits, though I suppose those being utilized relatively sparingly just makes them more effective (though I really would think having more of those moments would be to the albums benefit). Oh and for some reason the melody sung on the "its someone else's entirely" parts is so Have A Nice Life-ey to me so I think that comparison really is appropriate. The closer is probably my favorite track, though I really just wish the vocals weren't so low in the mix during the second half, though I've seen you acknowledge that as an issue of the album, so I guess you recognize that. But yeah still, I think its great album, good job dude.

Hey, thank you so much! Feedback like this is a big part of why I post in here, even when there's a thread like yesterdays where I give feedback to 6-ish people and don't hear back. I like hearing which bits could use work and which bits people dig.

I totally get the acoustic comment, I've actually gotten a few saying I should do an acoustic album. I just don't think I'm a strong enough writer acoustically. I have zero fingerpicking skill outside of the basics (though I'm working on it). New stuff I'm working on does have more acoustic parts in it, very much going for a country-folk vibe in parts, but the noisier parts are a LOT noisier.

Vocals being so low in the mix was largely because I hate my voice, but the lack of criticism regarding it makes me think it wouldn't hurt to have it higher in the mix next time. Really appreciate that critique. Btw, I also really appreciate that you commented on nobody home and zzz, outside of armadillo I feel like those are the two strongest (and most personal) tracks I've written and I think the length scares some people off.

Listening to yours >>73700117 now.

I'm really digging this overall, your guitar work makes it stand out in the sea of acoustic singer-songwriters. Kinda reminds me of certain Phil Elverum tracks, then other tracks feel super Elliott Smith worship-heavy. Not in an ape-ing way though. Your style is still evident. Samworth's Summer Journey is definitely my favorite (I'm 5 tracks in), the country vibe is so strong, reminds me a little of some Murder By Death tracks.

Biggest criticism I have is some of the panning. Little disorienting. I like the sound of an 80% pan, or full pan with a more quietly strummed track. More pleasant. DL'd either way.

Yeah definitely don't worry about your vocals, I'm sure no one would mind hearing them more clearly.

But anyways thanks for the kind words. I guess it is pretty obvious I'm a big fan of people like Phil and Elliott, I actually do get a bit nervous that I ape off my influences too much but I suppose that'll just change with time.

And I hear you about the panning, I basically have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to mixing (I'm sure the frequent clipping makes that obvious) so I just gotta work on that stuff. But yeah, thanks again.

Heyo Mr. Jacob the Hutt. Motel Guide/Corvo here, I've have spent some time with Into The Storm recently and just wanted to give some thoughts. The intro is a nice unassuming piece, and a good tone setter for the rest of the album, held together well by that chorus melody. Really enjoyed the restraint shown on the title track, spacious singer-songwriter songs like that are hard to pull off, but I think you did a really good job with letting it build and linger when it needed to. Patron is a really charming track, and a nice digression from the otherwise understated tone of much of the album. Was nice hearing some other voices in those harmonies, it’s a nice candid way to move past the solipsism occasionally bred by these kinds of projects . Out In The Open straight up sounds like it could be an unreleased AnCo track, it’s actually kind of uncanny. Those scattered background vocals on Now are interesting, though at first I wasn’t really sold on it as a closer, however that simple little melody that comes in about halfway through is beautiful and just builds wonderfully. Was a really nice send off. I will say though that something about the phone calls with your family really made me feel voyeuristic in a pretty uncomfortable way, though I guess that’s sort of the point. But yeah overall it’s another solid album, your stuff never disappoints.

My next record may have some more of that sound, but for the most part on this album I had to record it inside a garage in a legit neighborhood as opposed to my last album which was recorded loud in the middle of nowhere. But I have my stuff set up back in the spot where I recorded my first album so I should be able to incorporate that a bit more on a new project of some sort, I'm just going to have to see how I'll be able to fit vocals over a song that sounds that way

Great to see a Dungeon Noise artist on here! Gotta listen to your album in a minute or so (Internet is slow so bandcamp tracks take a while to play).
