Using the pop formula. Use of the same sounds/instruments/synths.
For example: "Chained to the Rhythm" by Katy Perry sounds a lot like Daft Punk and the Weeknd's recent songs together.
Yeah it is any song written in a simple format, probably designed for radio play. Usually contains verses and choruses or hooks.

well take that and apply it to a few different genres I guess. But entire genres are based on it. I usually don't just say pop, unless I am specifically referring to like top 100 songs or something.
