I didn't listen to that even though I downloaded it sometime because I was like "Why would I listen to a band that can't even be bothered to spell their name" but then again, Shields was dyslexic so I shouldn't have maybe been so prejudiced in supposing they were bad because they couldn't/wouldn't spell rightly.

Is there any dream or gaze stuff that has a slow and sensual R&B feel to it? I feel like the two have crossover potential, but I haven't found much like that.

I noticed that MBV's website had a few minor changes and the band now has a new representative. Used to be Keith Cullen from Setanta Records. I guess Keith also ran the MBV YouTube account, since it's subscribed to one person, Keith's son. Now it's Anna Meldal, who I think was a MBV photographer.
Wonder what's up with that. Good to know things are going on behinds the scenes. Gives some hope for new music some day (year).

Looking for more like this. Don't say Jesu or Nadja and stuff, I'm talking the shrieks. They seriously sound inhuman. I'm so in love with the sound.

Closest thing I've found might be Kairon Irse, just because I get that same vibe of barely-human. See 1:30 here. Can just barely hear these horrible rasps in the back of the rest. Sounds like something demonic, but this whole album sounds evil as hell to me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onaG0R-4sbU

I'm wanting to incorporate more of those vocals in my shit, and just more noisiness in general, even though it sounds nothing like that in what's online. But yeah. Rec stuff that fits that.

>The loud songs on that album could have been better, but they really had some original sounds on that album.
Agreed. Had that been the case, it could have been better than The Perfect Prescription. Still, it contains some of their best songs. J & P had the potential for even greater sounds but they lacked a unified vision, not to mention that they eventually couldn't work together without getting at each other's throats. Shame, because I don't think either one's output compares favorably afterward. That being said, Lazer Guided Melodies is pretty amazing.

Any Spacemen 3 fan should check out The Darkside (two former S3 members) as their sound is very reminiscent of that which was showcased on The Perfect Prescription.

More slowcore than shoegaze.

I saw Bedhead and was disappointed by the lack of effects pedals. It was weird to me at the time because their arrangements were very shoegazey and they had a lot of dramatic guitar crescendos but they usually just played 'em clean or with a little drive.

It was pretty clear they were distancing themselves from the movement as Amerindie was in its full throes by then and much more fashionable.

recently i've noticed that plebs/normies believe that the loveless sound was achieved with a shitload of effects pedals and rack units.
like, they think kev just ammassed them on an XXL pedalboard or stacked them on top of his amp, kicked them on and off came a complex, layered and ethereal combination of sounds, like an exaggeration of modern fx units by strymon, eventide, etc.

most guitar sounds on loveless are actually just partscasters such as a jaguar with a strat neck and EMG pups with maybe a cheap distortion or literally straight on an AC30 or 2

how can we put an end to the DUDE FX LMAO meme?
>>
>>73685603
>DUDE FX LMAO

To be fair, Shields has to use like 30 pedals to recreate the sound for live shows.

i doubt that this is true. i mean when you look at the stuff he plays live, he's usally just strumming while holding the whammy bar with heavy fuzz and digital reverb.

it looks more like he's a weirdo and hoards fx pedals because he can. nowadays most guitarists use large pedalboards live anyway.
>>
>>73685763
tbf as rich as the guitar sound may have been, aside from the reverse reverb gimmick the trick for that dense loveless sound is layering ethereal vocals and keyboards and good mixing.
