Zappa's problem was a corny Jewish sense of humour & showmanship. Incidentally, this is What many value about him. Just sharing my humble opinion. I feel if he'd focused on the music he could've been a commercial success.

He was one of those boring reactionary centrists, like those South Park libertarian idiots who pretend like both sides are the same and that it's acceptable to have no actual ideology beyond being a smug douche.

He was happy to tell everyone how much hated the hippies but he was too much of a complacent little cuck to protest to the government whose power actually matters in the world. His cowardly satire targeted boring weak normies instead of criticizing anything actually dangerous, like the Vietnam war or lack of civil rights etc. Apparently he was more interested in weird sex stuff...conservative politics=sexual pathology (Bobby Brown Goes Down is basically like a fox news freakout about feminism turning men into BDSM gay boys)

Basically he was so up his own ass satirizing the virtual television world that even the hippies were more down to earth and relevant to our society. Tragic waste of potential if you think about it.
