That's kind of a lazy, surface level critique. I personally think what makes it un-pretentious is the fact that as much as he shits on everyone else he shits on himself too on songs like Leaving LA and Ballad of a Dying Man. Like it's not the deepest thing ever of all time but i thought it was clever and enjoyable.
