Fuck this shit I hate having to decide which one to listen to

If I choose the original, obviously it's the one that at the time the artist/label thought had the most killer, least filler, gave it the best chance of selling, and was the official completed product that was in most cases "meant to be"

But what if the deluxe versions songs are great? Or what if only one is good and it's not worth the extra 15+ minutes to listen to? Also, it's not the initial release that most other people are listening to. And did the artist even have any say in it or did they prefer the initial non deluxe release? Was the deluxe an afterthought, a money grab?

I heard that the reason for Japanese bonus tracks is because albums are considerably more expensive in Japan. Thus some artists will put additional songs on a record to make it worth the price.

Happens to me with literally all reissues that have new tracks between the original ones or different mixes with different lengths. When the new content is included in a different CD the choice it's pretty obvious to me.
