Do you have any Jackson guitars? Post em. How is the quality these days now that Fender owns them?

I guess there is a global decline of quality in this sense that regardless of guitar brand they are all made in Korea or in other oriental country anyway. This is the reason why market is saturated with all these "signature models" from even guys you ever knew existed. Just make a bit custom shape, slap in certain specs -> manufacture in China for cheap and sell it as "signature model"...

>>
>>73624745
What do you mean? An effect built into the amp?
Or a good amp, on clean with the pedal will sound good?

Amp is a Rolan cube 30.

Is there anything wrong with plugging the pedal into a sound system?
>>
I want to get my first guitar. Been looking around a bit and I don't want to spend too much being an absolute beginner and all, but I do want a somewhat nice guitar. I can afford to get something more than bottom of the barrel trash and I figure a nice guitar motivates much more to actually play it than a trash one.
I'm more into rock and metal (stoner, doom, psych, death, black etc. The heavy stuff.) than the more clean genres, so I was looking at an Epiphone SG Special (€150). Good choice? I do like how it looks and sounds.
And if so, I will need an amp to go with it. Just a practice amp for at home so it needs at least a headphone out. Any recommendations?
>>

>>

adam doesn't really use a lot of effects, mostly just distortion. the thing with him is he mixes 3 different amps together to get his sound. the closest thing i'd say you can get to his sound is a rat

>What do you mean? An effect built into the amp?
A separate high-gain channel in the amp.

This is the tried and true method for good distortion:
High gain tube amp + good cab + overdrive pedal
(almost all the distortion should come from the amp, the OD pedal is just to increase the level going in and color the tone a bit)

Everything else like pedals, amp sims, modeling amps, etc are just an attempt to replicate a good tube amp setup. Some methods get close, most fall far short
What you need to do is upgrade the amp, not buy a pedal. Save up a couple thousand for a good half stack - dropping a hundred or so on pedals won't get you where you want to be. Every kid playing in their bedroom on a practice amp realizes this eventually

All those supposedly good pedals fall into the category of 'methods that get close to accurately replicating the sound'. It depends if you're the kind of person who can be happy with "almost good enough"
>>73625148
That's pretty much stating "I'm not interested in good tone" and then asking "how do I get good tone?" - the answer is not with a pedal and not through your sound system
>>
>>73625209
>All those supposedly good pedals fall into the category of 'methods that get close to accurately replicating the sound'. It depends if you're the kind of person who can be happy with "almost good enough"

please stop posting, it's obvious you haven't tried many distortion pedals
>>
>>73625209
>That's pretty much stating "I'm not interested in good tone"
The question was which sub $100 pedal had the best tone
Not how to spend $1000s on the perfect tone
>>
>>73620404
Get 2 guitars lol
>>
>>73625220
Here's a little something my karate sensei taught me - "the enemy of excellence is good enough"

Literally these pedals only exist to replicate the sound of tube distortion. It's impossible for a replication to surpass the original, the best you can hope for is to become good enough. Therefore it's pointless to delve into pedals. Unless you're prepared to forsake excellence.

What kind of output do you want? JCs arent that good for distortion ime(one company that backlines a festival every year has a couple and i always play around with them). I like the peavey classic 30, i've got some good cleans out of it before and the dirt is about what youd expect from a peavey. I have a fender london 185 from the 80s that's pretty cool, the clean channel reminds me of a jc but not as nice, the distorted channel sounds like a low gain fuzz pedal(anything but dimed gain doesn't sound too good) which i kinda like but I only use the dirt for recording sometimes. The london is loud as fuck, but cheap because it wasn't recieved well at all, and you can get it as a 2x12 combo(but it's called a pro 185). The old fender amps and their clones are nice, the twin reverb is great for clean, as are the bassman/jtm45 which breaks up a little easier. The newer models are good but different, the blues and hotrod series are alright. There's also the Vox AC series. Some JCM900s have pretty cool clean channels, but they're not for everybody. I modded my 4100DR and it's my favorite amp. Some hughes and kettners have pretty good clean channels too. There's also the mesa lone star classics. I also had the opportunity to play through one of those old musicman amos with an SS pre and tube power amp, it was nice but not really my taste.

I've written songs a while and even studied music theory in school. Just want to see what other people's thoughts are on things like writers block and their process. I mean, doesn't it happen to you?
>>
>>73630073
I will help you.

I want you to focus on your inner self. try to imagine a place you would love to be in. it can be a beautiful place, it can be a fun place, it can be anything.

Now let all the shapes and structures in this place form in your mind. notice how vibrant and beautiful the colors are. try to pay attention if there is any smell in the air.

Now, try to imagine what music would play in the background if this was a scene in a movie. it has to be music that doesn't exist yet, because its a place that only exists within your own inner world.

Listen to this music carefully, and then pick up your guitar/whatever instrument and learn to play it

Well if you want 2 speakers and you are willing to pay for 2 speakers go for it.

But just do note that modeling amps are generally viewed as practice amps, even though the Boss Katana actually sounds pretty good to be honest

But tonnes of great artists have made good music using distortion pedals primarily - Buzz Osbourne of the Melvins, Jonny Greenwood, Kurt Cobain (so what if he had bad tone or if the music is simple?), Kevin Shields, Justin Trosper, David Pajo, J. Mascis, Joey Santiago. These are all part of critically acclaimed bands focused on guitar music. The idea that one needs a tubez to make good guitar music is a self-deception that you've placed on yourself.

You don't get it do you? A lot of the time their music is good because their guitar tones are weird and unconventional, they actually manage to create something great and new as opposed to obsessing over what some buttrocker thinks is most important. By 'bad' tone I meant that these artists have a tone that you would call shit, but it sounds perfectly fine on the records they have done.

what are some of the best made acoustic guitars? I've had an eye on some guild guitars. Have an old silvertone but it plays like ass, good for practice since its so hard to make sound any good

They're both short pieces from Tarrega. The mazurka is Sueno, and the waltz is Paquito. I referred to Sueno as a mazurka because I guess he also has a tremolo focused piece by the same name

Recently I acquired a fender start. And everything is great, but there is this little thing that ticks me. I would like to have the tremolo arm set up in a way that it is loose enough to flop down when I release it, but there is no wobbliness when using it. Is there a solution for this? On the internet I've only seen people talking about how to make the arm stay put in the position where you want it, which doesn't help me at all.
