Please give me an example of them playing what is traditionally considered "progressive" music. I don't care how contradictory that sounds, if Arcade Fire have an angular, atypical, or complex riff or rhythmic passage I want to hear it. Funeral was one of the most boring things I ever tried enjoying.

Maybe the Contortionist?

I don't know if they count as progressive to people here, but I think they describe themselves as such, last I checked. Their music has certainly had an interesting evolution throughout the course of two EPs and three (and soon to be four) full length albums. They definitely stand out from the crowd in that category, to me, anyways.

No way YOURE older than 15. People disliking Arcade Fire is something that as an Arcade Fire fan you have to come to terms with. All the criticism of the band are completely legitmate and common place. They are run-of-the-mill, and generic. Doesn't mean their necessarily ban tho. Boring is subjective but a pretty common complaint from most people. It's hard to have an experience ear and still be able to sit through a full AF album.

Yeah, there was a genuinely new generation of prog rock in the early 2000s as emo kinda died off but post-hardcore and noise rock were still a strong influence in most people that were music at the time, and those people that listened to emo and math rock brought those influences as well. But P4k, which was arguably the most important vehicle for indie at the time, straight up killed it by giving most of them shitty reviews.
