I can agree that it's either that one or Fevers and Mirrors and that anyone who's favorite Bright Eyes album isn't one of the three self-indulgently angsty ones (Lifted, Fevers and Mirrors, and Letting Off the Happiness) is just missing the point of Bright Eyes.

I don't entirely agree. IWAIM still offers moments of undeniable pessimism. Those first three are emo with folk elements while IWAIM is pretty much just sad folk. It differs from the ones before it, but it's still in the same vein.
