+Can, Notes from Underground
im sorry
I almost cried while reading Norwegian Wood. I read it because my crush told me it's her favorite book. I went to see "The day after" by Hong Sang-soo with her after.
"On ne badine pas avec l'amour" was a great read.
Antoine & Colette was very relatable, I've been told several times that I look like Jean Pierre LĂ©aud ad it is indeed scary how similar we are.
Chinatown was great
I'm not done with "Men without women" yet, it's kinda boring.
All the albums were good, but not amazing.
>>73610515
I see you've been watching some Jean Pierre Leaud too. I have yet to see Masculin Feminin but I've been told it's great.
Please recommend!
>french new wave
>>73610515

>>73612227

>>73612764
House of Leaves is underrated af
Not read DADOES yet but I like PKD
I read a lot, just not fiction.
Recs appreciated btw!
>>73612764
I love Trust. I wish he'd release another album already.
Maybe try Tropic of Cancer and Black Marble (they're not dance-y at all but have a similar vibe). Also maybe Light Asylum, but the singer's voice grates on me a bit.
>>73612522
What type of movie is Chinatown? Looks Noir, I'm looking to get into that.
>>73612227
2001's a good movie.
>>73613759
how were homo deus and civilization? fergusson is great even though sometimes when i'm feeling paranoid I think he's compromised and that's why he did the rothschild + kissinger bios but that's whatever. brazil is one of my faves too.
>>73613269

>>73610515
you definitely need to finish the sea of fertility series

Chinatown is a great kind of post-noir movie, like it's definitely noir but it was made 20 years after they were big

Is Paris, Texas good? I've been meaning to watch it.
>>73614715

>>73613759
Great films, hows Homo Deus?, I've got Sapiens on my bookshelf
>>73613269
Man, I need to read more Mishima, Sailor was fantastic.
>>73612101
You, I like you
>>73615221
mishima is addicting af. I mostly enjoy is homoerotic work but I think if you loved sailor you should definitely read The Temple of the Golden Pavilion
>>73615786
Got no problem with homoness, as Im predisposed to that sort of life
>>73612025
>punishment park
my man, fucking great film, severely underrated (tbf so is peter watkins' entire filmography)
Took a while to make. I hope the thread's not dead.
>>73616479

>>73614305
Like your music taste. I dunno if you've watched any Lynch movies but if not I think you'd like em.
>>73613759
Would hang with.
>>73612227
>Car Seat Headrest
>not reading books
Either would be acceptable on their own, but together is too much. 2001 is pretty good though.
>>73616643

>>73616556

>>73613759
Chinatown is pretty much a Noir film through and through but the second half goes a bit of a different direction.
I'm too lazy to do this thing.

This is not a joke btw.
As for movies, I rarely watch any. I would say all of those in pic related are at least 3-5 months apart from one another.
Albums:
>This Old Dog and Salad Days, both by Mac Demarco

Haven't read books in a while desu

Dare iz a Darkside - Redman
Obzen - Meshuggah
The Impossible Kid -Aesop Rocky
Haven't read much in a while so these are the last three most memorable I guess.
The Bhagavad Gita
Ellison's Invisible Man, (loved this)
Hitchhikers Guide series.

I forgive you your shit taste in music for liking Irvine Welsh
you better have fucking seen Filth
also since you like shitty artwank (Tarkovsky) and okayish scoff (Gibson) you should DEFINITELY see On The Silver Globe by Zulawski
he did Possession if you've seen that
>>73627690

>>73610515
>implying I read or watch films
I ain't pleb niqqa
I don't really read much so rec's on books would be nice
>>73610515
Breathless is overrated, 30 minutes of watching 2 people argue about whether or not they'll have sex wasn't interesting in contempt and it isn't interesting in Breathless
>>73610888

lolita (which I'm in the middle of and loving)
V. by pynchon (which I dropped)
and As I Lay Dying (which I may drop but it seems like it could be rewarding to stick with it)
>>73629922
oh yea, i love synecdoche. should watch it a second time
>>73629457
you would probably like the stranger by camus
>>73630333
i think pynchon has to be one of the most frequently dropped authors in the world
Fucking LOVED American Psycho and Go and See, new favorites.
>>73630410
the section I got to which takes place in the middle east is just so dry and boring I cant take it anymore
>>73610515
Good to see someone watching Goddard and not only watching A bout de Souffle
>>73610737
V/H/S had such potential and i feel like the execution at the end of each vid was poor
>>73613008
is that glenn branca /mucore? I feel like its mentioned fairly often, but not as much as some.
>>73616479
Goddard again? Is he big on /mu/

>>73630488
not sure how far in that is, further than i got. I used to try reading his stuff at least once a year thinking I'd be ready for it but I'm either still not ready for it or there's nothing to be ready for and he's just not for me, couldn't even bring myself to get through lot 49
>>73631969
the part with the guy who stole coffee from the officer in the submarine pretty near the beginning was hilarious, its just very difficult to stay invested with all the tangential plot lines moving away from the characters that I do care about
>>73630434
>Go and See
it's Come and See
>>73630434
Try The Ascent
It was directed by the wife of Kilmov (director of come and see) and would say it's a better film. Has a far less relentless and pornographic style but is still quite dark.
>>73628149
>>doesn't watch films
nope haven't watched tv in like 8 years, just read and listen to music my man
>>73610515

don't watch a lot of movies, first two were with the gf

It's not as great but still good imo
