I think they have plenty of great songs, but they get way too proggy with their slightly gimmicky approach to songwriting and instrumentation (bluesy harmonica, angular playful riffs and fills, weird indulgent 60s psychedelia) approach too often, it just feels too heavy and thick in what they're doing. But that doesn't bother me as much as the general feeling I get from people about this band, who in spite of being so heavily prog, they are so popular and are something of lauded icons here. It puzzles me cause I guess I can't bring myself to believe that they are the greatest band that this country can produce, or that a band this prog (not that I hate experimentation or weird music, just this particular style of indulgence) can be so popular and seen as 'cool'.
