go ahead folks, post your collections.
>>73576791
If everything you have can be laid out in the floor you have a pretty shit collection. Pathetic...
> collecting for year and a half
> around 150 records so far
what is that record on the top left?
>>73577431
that doesn't mean it's pathetic, it means it's only just developing. getting a good record collection takes time and a lot of money. too much elitism in the vinyl world. unless someone is buying urban outfitters-tier reissues for a worthless turntable, there's no reason to hate.
that being said, yeah, my collection is too big to put all in one picture
>>73577435
pic too lo-res to make out the records, smart move

Some of the records I got when my granddad recently died. Sad, but I got some good music out of it. There's a quite a few more, if anyone is interested in seeing it
Today's purchases, probably won't be getting any more for a while
>>73576791
Here's my only record.
>>73578501
These are great, you gotta get the newest King Gizz
>>73578542
The guy at the store was trying to get me to get it, but he had a bunch of copies. I'll definitely get it in time, I just wanted I'm In Your Mind Fuzz before someone else got it.

>>73578200
Nashville Skyline is great, that was one of my first records. Sorry to hear about your grandfather passing. When mine does pass I am set to inherit ~10,000 albums and some guitars. He got me into record collecting and I love him every day for it.
>>73578200
We'd love to see more.
That Whipped Cream & other Delights album is 10/10 btw

sled island usually has some incredible posters, any other good ones this year?
My current collection, just passed 200 records.

how much did that set run you?
>>73580164
There were some pretty nice ones, I always pick up at least one each year. The problem is always that most of them are for acts I don't care about so I'm usually stuck striking a compromise. Low's poster was one of my favs and they were the act I was most looking forward to this year though.
Also holy fuck, Ex Eye were fucking awesome live
>>73580220
My mom bought that for me for Christmas. She left the price tag on by accident, it was about 80$.

Honestly, this version of the album is more for show. You'd prefer the single disc version probably. Each of these discs has one song on it (and it's instrumental version on the b sides).

>>73580476
Language is my AOTY 2014. The reason for the tons you see is because they have done different limited presses. Two different variants per year. If anything, people are probably selling the 2014 versions because the 2015 and 2016 versions have bonus tracks. I got mine in 2016 and it looks like a fossil.

Some recent purchases, except for Houdini. I'm just really happy to own Houdini and want to show it off.
Favorite haul in a while. I love this Grace Jones record and The Wild, the Innocent is my new favorite Springsteen album

Ironic, since that's what leads most people to vinyl collecting, despite it being entirely unnecessary and incredibly misguided.

Always worried about unofficial pressings.

i don't know how to tell what pressing it is, but it looks like this, which i think is pretty cool. I think it sounds good but then again I'm not an expert and would not know what to compare it with

A Kevin Shields-official all-analog reissue it's on the way but it's taking too fucking long

That's why I've been waiting all this time.
Hurts but the represses of the classics are good (notably Souvlaki) and if Kevin is at the reigns I can't see it being anything less than great.

>>73579853
why? the worst things that can happen just from letting them sit on your shelf is maybe some deterioration in terms of color, or just them getting dusty. Any other sort of damage would happen when you wouldn't even have the outer sleeve.

If I was collecting for future monetary value, I might care.
As it is, it's tough to find any Zappa locally. I've cleaned out just about every record store within 100 miles of here.
Only other option is to order online, and the few times I have, it hasn't worked out for me.
The bottom row are originals, the top 8 are re-re's
>>73594329
thats understandable, i only buy the original zappa records because i used to see them quite a bit around used stores so i'd buy every one i found (did the same with lou reed) and im quite jealous of your OG Weasels Ripped My Flesh since thats his best album IMO

None
They are all absolute garbage that sound like shit and are also likely to damage your records
For a similar price you can easily find a decent used turntable. Look for one with a decent tonearm and a replacable cart (which none of your alternatives have)
>>73599105
$200 should be your entry level. Record players shouldn't cost the same as a record
>>73599105
This one. While none of them have a counter weight, this one at least has separate speakers.
Mounting the speakers in the same cabinet that holds the player is the worst possible setup.
>>73598578
>Deep Fantasy
Nice. Is it the first pressing clear vinyl or the black repress?
>>73599105
Go for at least the U-turn Orbit or AT-LP120. Or go vintage if you don't to spend over $250

I have the black one, it was kinda warped and side B is pressed slightly off-center, but oh well, nothing I could do.
How do you guys sort your records? Alphabetically by the last name? What about artists that use a stage name? What about names that don't use the latin script?
>>73603025
Last name; also last name, but depends on the type of the stage name; still alphabetical, according to how the romanized name spells like
>>73589124
>£3 ($2)
That's not how that works.
>>73590380
It's just so spot on I can't help but laugh
Hate me.
>>73599255
He's right. I know $200 seems like a lot, but a poor quality record player can actually damage your records. You'll have spent $200 on your collection in no time so it is a worthy investment.
I'm only just getting started

post yours
Hey anons. What's a good beginner turntable? I was thinking an Audio-Technica LP60. Don't wanna break the bank or anything just yet.
Looking for an automatic (preferred) turntable. USB port or no, either way. Like to have a hinged dust cover. Not sure if a built-in preamp is better or get an external one.
>>73610439
this anon got pretty decent responses >>73599105 i'd recommend the AT LP120 over the LP60 though, costs more but better in the long run
>>73610609
Oh shit, I didn't even notice that post. Thanks!
>>73610439
Invest in the 120 with some decent speakers it will last you a long time andis a respectable turn table and it has a counter balance and many other features the 60 does not
The 60 is cheaper but if you are looking buy a lot of vinyl, and you really like music and are more than a casual listener then the 120 is for you
>>73610654
Looking for a bit, it seems obvious the 60 is not worth it. I'm willing to invest a bit more for better quality.
Two more questions:
1. Anyone know how the AT-LP3 compares to the LP120?
2. How do I tell if the turntable supports headphones? Stupid question probably but I'd like to alternate between those and speakers if possible.
>>73610722
Idk 1
But 2
The lp120 does it comes with a headphone adapter someone correct me if I'm wrong
But yeah with most turntables if it supports headphones then you will see it has a headphone jack on it (or an adapter) and it will have a built in pre amp
>>73610799
Fucking cool. Thanks for the info. I'll do more checking on the LP3.
bump those vinyl
Is it true that picture discs have the overall crappiest quality?
I can't stop
