Get Out of My House
>>73539511
Either Suspended In Gaffa or Wuthering Heights
can't beat the classics
>>73539525
I just listened to this song for the first time and it's fucking incredible.
A Sky of Honey
>>73539511
Mother Stands for Comfort
>>73539525
I can't find it anywhere. Is this legit?
>>73539511
Oblivi... err Cloudbusting.
Feel It
HEATHCLIFF, IT'S ME I'M CA-
oh wait i'm supposed to give a meme answer, my bad
I showed my friend Kate Bush and he said that she was garbage and cliche :(
Probably either Night of the Swallow or Jig of Life.
lily
Always been a toss up between these two

Night of the Swallow is the best
>You will never EVER touch her bush
Time kill myself
>>73540215
iktf
>>73540130
She kind of is
>>73540502
fuck right off
>you will never listen to Waking The Witch for the first time again
all the 'wake up..' stuff tripped me the fuck out.
Writer in the Dark
>>73540130
Man, it happened to me to. They said that her voice was to weird...
Anyways I love Cloudbusting. Walking the witch is great to.
>>73540526
But her stuff is overly predictable and cheesy at most times. Just listen to the fucking chorus to Hounds of Love. There's your proof.
>>73540530
Lying in bed listening to this album for the first time was fucking amazing and waking the Witch was probably the best part
It was a fucking trip
>>73540019
ily
>Night of the Swallow
what did she mean by this?
>>73540973
what did you mean by this?
THE BIG SKY
>>73540549
>Writer in the Dark
I really don't get why people say this song is Bush's esque.
who is better: kate bush or claire boucher?
>>73539511
For me it's Sat In Your Lap
>>73541253
claire is slightly better than kate
>>73540773
>cherrypicking her most conventional song
literally kill yourself
>>73540705
>>73540130
If they're used to listening to Florence+The Machine, Joanna Newsom, or Tori Amos then maybe she feels a bit cliched, but only because all of them based their careers off of her.
>>73539511
Cloudbusting.

>>73541284
All kino choices lads
>>73539879
he's saying Rubberband Girl ya doof.
(also a good choice)
>>73540530
3 am, laying in bed, no lights on, no idea what's coming, just so happen on the 30th anniversary of the album's release.
You never forget your first.
>>73541401
All of Kate's realeases from 1980 to 1985 are kino.
>>73541401
I think there are a lot of cool ideas in her songs, but it's mixed with really cheesy shit.
>>73541401
>If they're used to listening to Florence+The Machine, Joanna Newsom, or Tori Amos then maybe she feels a bit cliched
Why Joanna? I get the others, but Joanna isn't very Bushian at all. She's much more in the Vashti Bunyan/Roy Harper mold.
Night of the Swallow and Suspended in Gaffa tie for top spot.
>>73539888
Top kek
>>73541797
A lot of Have One on Me gives me Bush vibes.
>>73541772
What songs have you listened to?
>>73541797
Her voice is high pitched like Kate voice in the Kicking Side, thats like the biggest similarity.
Suspended in Gaffa
I get goosebumps during "I don't know why I'm crying"
Sat in Your Lap b
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KEEXyRL0qE
>when the cover is better than the original
Mother stands for Comfort
>>73542616
The singing is deadpan compared to Kate
>>73542616
link unrelated?
Every time I listen to her I get bored. She might not even be technically good. I might be feeling the same feeling I get when I nod to an opening act whose music is neither insufferable nor memorable, but I can't tell because I fall asleep before I finish her albums.
>>73542616
What a shitty cover. They ruined the song.
>>73542678
Took me a while to get into it. still don't like all of her music
Experiment IV. Amazing music video incoming:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTUcoR8_pyE
>Hugh Laurie
>Dawn French
>Gary Oldman
>>73542720
Also Maester Aemon
>>73542040
Kick Inside, Never For Ever, Lionheart, The Dreaming, Hounds of Love, The Sensual World
Night of the Swallow, a beautiful masterpiece
50 WORDS FOR SNOW IT'S MY LIFE
>>73543216
truly underrated
>>73542616
I can't believe people actually prefer this shit over Kate Bush's original. It's like if you sucked all the emotion out of it and added in emo subtext. Completely ruins the song, Jesus Christ.
>>73543139
What songs on those albums specifically have cheesy elements about them? What makes them cheesy?
>>73543348
I know right. It's such an amazing album and the vocals are just precious,
OK REMEMBA
>>73543577
In general just the repetitive call-and-response stuff. I don't really feel like going into it
>>73539511
She really has too many amazing songs to choose from, but probably Constellation of the Heart.
Pretty much anything from The Dreaming is superb, but Suspended in Gaffa is probably the best.
Wuthering Heights and Running Up that Hill are tied for second.
>>73539525
Yeah, I love Rubberband Girl too.
HE SHOUTED OUT
>>73544407
I genuinely don't know what call and response stuff you're referring to, so I'm just gonna assume you have no idea what you're talking about. Can't even be bothered to give one example?
>>73546553
>genuinely don't know what call and response stuff you're referring to
t. Someone Who's Never Heard a Kate Bush Album
>>73546631
Call and response is the singer saying something with a background vocal singing in reply.
There's not all that much of that in Kate Bush records. The Dreaming maybe has the most of it. That's why I'm asking for just one specific example of where it's "cheesy".
>>73542616
this sucks though
Just decided to finally give Kate Bush a chance and listened to The Dreaming. Holy fuck. That was insanely enjoyable, I'm genuinely blown away and intrigued as fuck for the rest of her material. I only knew her hit singles before but now I'm definitely gonna venture into her albums.
I'm sorry for not doing this sooner, Kate. By the way you were unbelievably fucking cute.
Under the ice
>>73546912
I'm sorry to inform you that you started with the best album. The good news is that she has at least 5-6 other albums that aren't as good, but are still fantastic. Particularly Hounds of Love.
>>73539511
hounds of love
>>73546932
Yeah I get the impression The Dreaming will remain my favourite going by summaries of the other albums' styles. I'm not really fussed though as long as they're good.
I can't really remember any songs from the album besides a few, despite the fact I finished listening about 15 minutes ago, because it has all blended into one entire collage of sound and weird vocals in my mind since. Really loved it though.
MOMMY
>>73547547
It's "mummy", you fat American cunt.
>>73542616
but it's not tho
>>73539511
FOR THE HONOUR OF GRAYSKULL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xckBwPdo1c
>>73542616
placebo is one of my favourite bands, but this cover is not that great
grimesfan here. wtf is this thread about the legendary kate doing at page 10?
>>73549977
idk desu
I want to _______ Kate Bush
>>73550143
go back in time and cuddle young
the one where she's yowling like a cat in heat
>>73546703
If you can't see how she can be seen as cheesy by some, than I don't know what to tell you
>>73547006
The Hounds of Love is also great. And the second part pf the album is as weird as The Dreaming.
>>73546912
Same happened to me, didn't care much for Kate until I listened to that album and now I'm a fan.
>>73546932
Kinda true, but since getting some of her stuff on vinyl I deprived myself from that album until I get a hold of the physical copy. It's amazing how different Hounds sounds when listened in the media it was made for, same for the sensual world, the amount of layers lost in it getting "digitalized" are incredible. Some songs sound very different.
To answer OPs question, the whole 9th wave minus first and last song (I know they serve a purpose, but the middle part is just perfection)
Nobody says Depper Understanding? Kate predicted the rise of technology and NEETs
>>73540530
this, you immediately know you are listening to something monumental
>>73540549
lmao
Cliched, perhaps. But banger none the less:
Running up that Hill
>>73550553
I almost posted it, but then remembered that album also has The Fog, Sensual World, Reaching Out, Rockets Tail, This Woman's Work, etc. But yeah Deeper Understanding is gr8
That album is seriously underrated, her last masterpiece (wouldn't mind removing all the Gilmour parts but there no that bad)
Surprised no one EVER mentions Love and Anger, that song helped me get through tough times srs
>>73539547
2nd reply nailed it, no further posts necessary
https://youtu.be/uiCRZLr9oRw
Is this allowed
>>73551775
good song
but it's Peter Gabriel and when he played it live he got a random grill to sing Kate's part or Sinnead O'connor
fun fact, whe he toured worldwide in 92 he did his two duos with any popular female singer from the country he was in, resulting in some weird to awfull performances,
Cant find the one time he played it in Argentina with Celeste Carballo a semi-popular butch dyke blues/folk singer that cant even into english, saw it on TV as a kid an man, that was terrible
>>73551848
Its a bummer that Kate didnt tour between 1979 i think to 2014.
>>73539879
>>73540163
>>73540179
>>73544272
love these choices i would say night of the swallow myself
>>73550192
Just give one example of what you're talking about.
what's up with all this kate bushposting lately?
>>73552325
I don't know but I like it
Whats a good album to start my Kate Bush experience with?
>>73552365
If you like more rock-ish instrumentation: The Kick Inside
If you like more synthy instrumentation: Hounds Of Love
Toss up between Rocket's Tail and Big Stripey Lie
>>73552409
thanks anon
>>73552365
If you want something more experimental and progressive: The Dreaming.
>>73552325
She's great. Thats why.
Hounds of Love desu. Yeah it's very much a pop song but it's a dang good one. There's a lot of intensity in the lyrics and the drums that just grips you at the beginning and doesn't let go.
>nobody picked anything from The Kick Inside
you plebs should learn to appreciate young Kate a tad bit more
>>73553020
Them Heavy People is great
>>73553020
Strange Phenomena is underrated
Army Dreamers will always be my choice. From my favorite album of hers, too.
this town ain't big enough for the both of us
>>73555934
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOZDKlpybZE
Kate had some amazing music videos for the time
Walking the witch
>>73556498
how can a human being be so perfect?
since where talking about videos, this was my introduction to KB, since my former roomate was a huge Pink Floyd fan and Dave shows up.
her videos kinda went downhill from here, the ones for The Red Shoes are borderline cringe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyEHKGDSg5I
btw, listened to this song a million times and always thought she used a childrens choir, to my surprise, the backup vocals consist of her and Paddy
>mfw her brothers vocals are even higher pitched than hers
no wonder he never speaks in the interviews
>>73555934
always felt that song should be longer, hell, a lot of her songs sound too edited to fit the album
reissues with extended versions when?
i haven't heard a single kate bush album ever.
Hello Earth
>>73539640
>>73540188
>>73539888
>>73548050
Also close to my top choices as well
>>73557827
It's time, lad
>>73553020
she wrote The Man With the Child in His Eye when she was 13 for fuck's sake and it's an awesome song
what were we doing when we were 13??
>>73557972
Jesus, I could barely jerk off right then, much less write good music
>>73557945
downloading
i mean, legally purchasing :^)
>>73557972
I was jerking off to pictures of Kate Bush
>>73542616
>all choir videos on youtube are based on the Placebo cover
>>73542616
God I hate this cover
Placebo aren't even a bad band but they ruined this
>>73558148
>search any post 1980 song on yt live hoping to find the "before the dawn" version
>some shitty tribute band called Cloudbursting comes up
anyone got a link to Before the Dawn? some videos poped up but where taken down in seconds
>>73539547
spbp
Kate Bush more like Kate Blush (when I see her irl) am i right?
>>73539511
it alternates between Infant Kiss and Hounds of Love
More artists like Kate Bush?
>>73559295
DUDE GRIMES LMAO
seriously tho, to me Bjork, Enya and Joanna Newsom are in that same class as Kate.
>>73559295
Early Tori Amos is pretty much just a Kate Bush rip-off
>>73559295
Lana Del Rey is essential this decades Kate Bush believe it or not.
>>73559295
Fiona Apple
>>73550143
meet
>>73558417
I just listen to it today (Its on Pirate Bay, for some reason its not on Spotify in my country). It felt like a progressive rock record at time. A bummer that they haven't released the video.
>>73550143
Sniff the farts of a young
>>73550143
talk to
them heavy people
>>73559814
i'd take them from old Kate as well not gonna lie
>>73540705

>>73559943
Get out pleb.
>>73539511
>IF I ONLY COULD I'D MAKE A DEAL WITH GOD
It's not her best, but it's the one I enjoy the most.
Suspended in Gaffa
>>73559510
>Enya
srs? at least Loreena McKennitt writes her stuff, still not comparable
>>73559531
THIS
actually her whole career, but the first 4 albums are the only ones worth hearing
>>73559542
no way, she is a product and in that aspect Lorde might be closer
>>73559561
she had potential, but the industry fucked her hard
>>73558277
Fuck Placebo
>>73559510
>DUDE GRIMES LMAO
Why not? Why don't you take Grimes seriously?
>>73558860
You made her happy, anon, that was sweet and wholesome
>>73542616
lol no
>>73559882
This
>>73559295
Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins.

COME ON AND LET ME LIVE GUUUURL OOH LAH LAH
>>73542616
This is really bad
>>73550143
Go back in time, meet, fall in love with, have children with, and grow into a loving and happy old couple who always goes to ceramics class together with
