in all honesty, does anybody know how to tune a guitar for a distinct sound?
eg: medicine bottle has a tab of DADGAD , how the fuck do I tune the guitar for that, just ear?

Use a tuner.

If one isn't handy and you're already in standard tuning, tune the low E to the D String.
EADGBE ---> DADGBE

Tune the high e to either D string.
DADGBE ---> DADGBD

Tune the b string to the low a string.
DADGBD ---> DADGAD

Boom. You're now in DADGAD tuning.

Lower the g string by one semitone to get a major open tuning. Lower it by one more semitone to get a minor open tuning.

Lower the high d string one semitone to get a major seven open tuning. Lower it one more semitone to get a dominant seven open tuning.
