Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions. It’s not a shoegaze band, but it’s definitely dream pop/dreamy. Their albums are fantastic. Here are a few songs:

“On The Low”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akwByiGxvYg

“Suzanne”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-LRD9bR2oQ

“I took a slip”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwusz1zrIMk

If you’re looking for a more shoegaze feel, check out this song by a band called Visiting Diplomats:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD8yH4RS5Pw

I especially enjoy songs that give me that nostalgia feel. Recommend me more.

/shugazi/, I need your help. I've been trying to get into shoegaze, and honestly Souvlaki and Loveless did nothing for me, but Nowhere quickly turned into one of my favorite albums. Any idea of why? It seems that more often than not people rank Nowhere as the worst of the three.

They stick to the poppier, more traditional alt-rock sound that Ride's first two albums really revel in with bits and pieces left over from the Madchester movement years before

Noice. I keep seeing "topsters" in chart filenames, is this from a site or something?
>>
>>73544845
They're not in order though
>>
>>73545095
They're alphabetical, order is subjective anyways

only one good album, melody echo chamber wow
dream pop needs to die already
>>
>>73497639
This isn't shoegaze?? They haven't been shoegaze since Before The Dawn Heals Us, and even that album is a stretch
>>
>>73545881
>only one good album
>melody's echo chamber of all things
I'd make fun of you but your taste is embarrassing enough on its own
>>
>>73546121
you can't see good taste even if it hit you on your face
bet you love beach house lol

>Alcest

Want me to keep going?
I'd say 60% of that chart is better than Melody's Echo Chamber
>>
>>73546121
Holy shit, that is the worst album on there, congratulations on being a pleb

The left one seems more plausible although I think he says: Son of Shiva or something.

This was one of those albums for me that 30 seconds into the first track I was pretty sure I'd like the whole thing.
>>
>>73544845
If anyone has any suggestions for replacements on here let me know.
I've gone ahead and thrown Microcastle on the 2008 section instead of Lantlôs' S/T since I figure it's a more necessary listen, and they're both about the same level of shoegazey which is to say only vaguely

There is a shoegaze festival happening in Japan soonish and these are some of the bands. Most of them are pretty ok if you want to check them out.

I'm not the guy but
Just skim through their shit and find something interesting

Personally I like citrus nowhere, honeydew, sugardrop, acidclank, and shelling the most. Most of the others I couldn't find full albums, but most of them are on soundcloud or on youtube in some form.

Of the ones I couldn't find albums and just looked at their soundcloud I liked softsurf and aysula.

I would definitely recommend listening to forsaken autumn too, although they are not japanese. It's one of my favourite Asian shoegaze albums. https://forsakenautumn.bandcamp.com/album/whenere-2

The way you have this in all caps made me think it was a shit post

I just downloaded it and listened to the first two tracks and I'm loving it
>>
>>73558704
Check out the s/t album too.

New Ride is really weak though. I was so disappointed, personally.
Not even that shoegazey.
>>
>>73548476

It's obviously the left one with Shiva instead of Sheba...
Shiva=One of the principal deities of Hinduism
Sheba=A distinct spitz breeds of dog from Japan
>>
I'm just starting to check out blackgaze, what album would you rec me if I'm looking for something between Sunbather and Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde? Alcest was great but I could go for something harsher, but I don't know if I'm into screaming vocals like Deafheaven.

Listening now. Any reason to be weary of Les voyages de l'âme, or are the RYM reviews just retarded?

Écailles de lune is Alcest's best album by far, and it's just a less amateur sounding Souvenirs d'un autre monde with more instances of traditional black metal
The first two tracks alone are some of the best stuff in the genre
>>
>>73562446
Finished it about an hour ago. Écailles De Lune [Part II] blew my tits off.
>>
>>73554923
I didn't see it the first time, but check out For Tracy Hyde if you want some nice J Pop-ish shoegaze.
