Reviewing the Youtube link: The high frequency scape sounds are muffling the voice a tiny bit. I really like the piano, it has sort of a modern day sound to it but it feels like it's played naturally.
The scrape are a bit weird sounding over the piano but the claps do help it flow a bit better. There isn't much variety in the song so it is pretty repetitious. A good track, just needs a bit more fleshing out with more breakdowns, instruments and events.

Reviewing the first Soundcloud link Sun Dreams:
The saxaphone sample sounds well played but it is a bit clippy for some reason (probably because it might have been an old sample).
The gated sample at 0:25 is using a Gross Beat preset called 'Sped Up Gate', not dissing (I use that shit all the time) but just thought it was funny to point out.
The hi-hats sound pretty clean but the guitar pluck sample sounds way out of place like you put it in the song by accident and forgot to remove it.
The rapper is not very good: he's boring, monotone and has virtually no energy. He deflates any sort of hype you would get from the gated sample at the start of the song. The only interesting thing that happens to his voice is the pitch FX.
The beat itself is cool, it sort of glitches and makes the snares, hi-hats and percussion sound sort of unique. I especially like the synth at 1:20 that has this cool like wavey solo note.
At 2:13 there is a little ending bit where the wavey synth starts to have a proper solo with the beat and then the saxaphone comes in tying it all up. But then it just cuts off abruptly, making the end part sound unfinished.
All things considered, this track doesn't know what it wants to be: vaporwave? trap? funk? lofi? It tries to mash these things together and makes a pretty mixed bag of production styles that range in quality quite significantly.

Nice little aesthetic you have on this track. While trap is a very oversaturated market to get in you seem to try a differentiate yourself by adding these bell samples as well as the trumpet playing quietly in the background.
Mixing is very good, the kicks and bass sound really cool and the hi-hats and snares don't sound jarring or out-of-place (like a lot of other trappy songs).
If I do have to get complaints it would be to remove that fucking awful 'DAMN SON' sample and to make it sound less repetitive after 1:27.

The piano sounds a bit dry, like you are playing in a slightly padded room. For some reason, when the beat comes in it sounds off, like it has a slight delay to it. The piano's keys don't really go that well with the beat. Otherwise, the beat sounds amazing. I also like the flutes.
0:51 has a very jarring build up where it sounds like the start up of a Monstercat song. It is a bit weird to me when it happens as it feels like two different genres of electronic music.
The main hook of the song is well mixed but it sounds very off tempo, like the hi-hats are apart of a different bpm entirely.
The song seems to jump from one genre to the next with little regard for musical transitions or flow. This can be a bad thing as it can lead to the track feeling unfocused.
I do think you have a knack for composition but you just need to focus on one genre at a time.

Reviewing the first song on your Soundcloud Pale Blue Dot:
The grungy guitar sounds fucking badass. The drums feel like they're in the background too much (especially the hi-hats, I can barely hear them). The funky guitar that starts at 0:28 sounds very cool as well, really psychedelic.
The distorted guitar near the end of the song is pretty cool, not too up on your face but there to add a little grunge to the track.
The voice sounds pretty decent as well (if a bit quiet). He doesn't sound bad at all sounding like your typical 70-80s post rock band vocal (which is not a bad thing at all).
This just screams Kula Shaker to me with its funky ass guitars and hypnotising 70s style vocals, just work on the mixing next time. Amazing stuff.

>I've responded to many people in this thread on SC
I know that feeling, it sucks putting effort into reviews with either one person or nobody responding.
Reviewing the first non-WIP song on your Soundcloud Son Of Basketball Sam:
I like grungy opening at the start with the snares and kick, it feels really good to listen to. (Remind me of the Erry Films Start up without the annoying popping tics). I also like the 80's style snares at 0:18.
It does feel a little confused though: like it is trying to add all these instruments but not focusing on a genre or style. Instruments like the brass samples and the bass guitar don't mesh at all and makes the track feel really cluttered.
The thing I enjoyed the most was the vocal samples that change pitch and distortion over time. Really unique and interesting track.

I like this, a lot in fact: it reminds me of all the weird electronic shit from the 90s - 00s from the likes of Daft Punk and even some stuff from newer artists like Blank Banshee.
The kicks sounds really nice and the synths + pads you use are very HQ, weird and awesome sounding. The vocal sample sounds pretty good as well.
Your breakdowns soun pretty good with 4:36 being my fav. The echoy snares and the gate sample make me bop my head (which I almost never do with this type of music being posted here).
This track is compelling in a sense that it is enjoyable and a good throwback to 'good throwbacks'. It doesn't really bring a tear in my eye but I can share this knowing this is possibly one of the most HQ SC songs I've heard here.

I'm jamming this now... had to plug my headphones in cause I had a suspicion the bass was heavy...
Sigh: yea man I like the direction this is heading. my only concern at the get go are those stop/start drops. potentially very effective, but I feel like the energy doesn't quite grow enough to justify their continued use throughout the song. but the groove is very tight. I like the bassline a lot.

Reviewing the first song Intro (Lvl Up):
Really liking those reverbing vocal samples, they have a dream like quality to them. The rapper is a bit to forward in the mix with very piercing high frequencies at the start.
I like the arrpegiated instrument building up the song as well as the distorted guitar slick. The sample at 1:07 is a bit crackly though.
The subbass sounds pretty good but for this type of song it is a bit quiet. The hi-hats and snare are very well produced as well for this type of beat. The distorted synth at 1:46 sounds pretty dope as well as the distorted bass guitar.
Pretty clean and interesting production on this track, just work on the mix a bit.

Reviewing Abraxas:
I like the piano like instrument as well as the soundscape at the start. It feels like were focusing on a guy with his laptop amidst a busy airport. The reversing samples are also pretty well made as well giving us a dream like vibe.
The bass is really good as well, not being to prominent but still in the background contributing. I also really like the shakers in this part too adding a bit of a beat in the song.
I really do like this track, heart and follow.
9/10
>>73495015
Reviewing Plateau:
Very funky little garage band. I love the guitar shred at 0:13, it feels like 70s psychedelic. The vocal sounds a bit mediocre with a muffled American youth singing. The drums sound pretty good with a lot of work going into snares and hi-hats.
The stars of this track are definitely the guitars, maybe if this was an instrumental track or if there was a better vocalist I would've rated it high but for now the song is dragged by the poor singing.

Reviewing title track:
The vocals are giving me The Killer vibes which is pretty cool. The guitar is played fairly well as well as the bass but seemed to be slightly out of tempo (but I guess it is very hard to pull it off on time). The drums are also well played.
There isn't much to talk about with this one, it is high quality but there isn't anything that interesting about it. Keep going with it though.

Love the reverse synth stuff at the start of the song. The kick sounds great too and the sub sounds amazing, really digging the wubs there. The hi-hats and snares sound very scrisp and professional.
It does get a bit out of tune at around 0:28 with this weird waving high pitched piano. Imo it isn't a very good instrument in use.
I like the droning distorted pad at around 2:27, it kinda sounds like this weird buzzer that fades in and out.
This track is very unique in a lot of ways and produced in a lot of very surreal and different ways. Although the song is very repetitious and some instruments clash with others, especially near the start.
7/10
>>73495583
I thought the high pitched piano transition sounded great the first time, but after that it didn't seem to sound as good during the rest of the song.

nope, the trick is you have to be eating some sort of bread while you make the track.
Could be white, whole wheat, rye, sourdough (à la my track), pita, challa, anything really.
Doing so makes the track more bread-like, don't ask me how that's just the way it is.

not really into noise, so can't comment on the third track, but the rest of it i like. one thing i would say is that your music isn't very dynamic, try working on that and see if it doesn't help you
https://clyp.it/3dbup4dn recorded this just now, it's full of mistakes but i'm tired and don't feel like doing more than one take. feedback appreciated
>>73506586
thanks for the feedback. i agree with you, it's not really dynamic, it mostly stays in one place and makes subtle changes over time.
you recorded that just now? i wish i had any talent playing the piano, that's very beautiful. i can definitely sense a jazz influence especially near the middle section. you're clearly very talented. the recording quality is nice and clear. i didn't even notice any mistakes. great job, man.

https://soundcloud.com/gravesegrau/quiet-dont-worry
a post rock track I'm working on. heavily influenced by gy!be and mogwai.
https://soundcloud.com/sysiph/city-ave
>Vaporwave (Retrowave and Lo-Fi Hip-Hop)
whenever i make a new track, i listen to it nonstop and feel like it's the best shit ever until i start up a new project then i can't stand to listen to the old project anymore and then i feel like it's fucking awful and notice nothing but flaws in it. then the process starts all over again.
does anyone else do this or just me?
