American Football uses a lot of open tuning meaning that the guitars are tuned in such a way that if you strum them open they make a chord. This makes it easy to noodle around with but it lends itself to sounding kind of samey. I like American Football but it all kind of has a droning colorless sound to me because it's very diatonic.
