I trained as an audio technician and worked FOH on a system worth about $25,000 for about 5 years, so the answer is no. "Audiophiles" are universally and without exception retards who know absolutely nothing about professional audio. my yamaha hs8s and techics mk3ds do me just fine. anything beyond would be overkill seeing as my dad has a much more expensive setup in his audio engineering studio and has admitted the difference is barely noticeable
