It's not so much that it's worse or bad, but on par with Perry's musicianship. I get such a kick out of reading reviews that rank Witness significantly lower than her previous work. Like, what, were Roar and Teenage Dream beholden to a higher standard? She makes pop music that's carefully manufactured to appeal to a worldwide audience; chill.

very much this. katy perry's music is just unremarkable manufactured soulless pop and this album is no different despite the fact that she's doing everything in her power to make you think otherwise

She peaked with Teenage Dream. As much as everyone shits on her career, Teenage Dream had singles that defined the entire genre don't even try and question it.
