I spent the last 6 years living in Mississippi. There are some great, local blues artists that never had a spotlight shone on them. I'd highly recommend checking out some of the festivals, particularly in Clarksdale or West Point. There's nothing like being crammed into a one-room juk joint listening to some 70+ year-old black man sing blues.
