India was colonized for almost as long, a lot of the people there can speak English, but they don't do this as badly. Some still do it, but it's much less prevalent, pretty much on the same level as the rest of the world, maybe a tiny bit more. Even the rest of Africa isn't as bad as Nigeria in that way.
