John was literally just reading off the events of a newspaper and talking about just average observations, in a disaffected tone. A man dying in a car crash, a bad movie. It's just exactly about what's it's title says. A day in the life. Reason why the Beatles are the best, all artists make songs about special events in life- love, war, ballads, etc. But A Day in the Life is so relatable because all it talks about is an average day, something every human goes through all the time.
