and why it is the apex of music.

Oblivion is better
I haven't even listened to it and played little of skyrim but I bet it's generic "symphonic" music no better than star wars soundtrack or whatever

In a way I agree, but I really like disc 4 of Skyrim for a more kind of ambient music. I still love the Morrowind-Oblivion soundtrack. Jeremy Soule is brilliant.
You might be interested in the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance soundtrack too, it was also made by Jeremy Soule. It features some touches of his brilliance

His music really feels like old Europe. The playground of the European soul, dark and light. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Isle

Jeremy Soule is far more talented than some 'generic "symphonic" music' as you term it.

I should probably check it out. I haven't played console games in years. I haven't actually even played Skyrim lol, I just like the soundtrack. I will keep Bloodborne in mind when I get a playstation.

You like skyrim's ost despite not playing it because the concept is familiar.
You won't enjoy bloodborne ost without the unique context.

Yeah I get you, I dug really deep into Oblivion and 'get' the whole Elder Scrolls concept, so perhaps this makes me more partial to the Skyrim soundtrack (especially as it was created by the same composer). When I get a playstation I will look into bloodborne as I said, not before I play Skyrim though! :3
vidya can have some amazing ambience sometimes

probably one of my favorite ambient tracks ever

Nice, and from 1997 also, didn't realize the first fallout was that old.
Developed by Black Isle Studios who were involved with >>73420234
>Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance
and Bethesda who were involved with Elder Scrolls also. There does seem to be some loose affiliations here.
Also yes game soundtracks do indeed.
