I'd say that the Hofner bass goes for it, people that see the Hofner bass instantly associate it with Paul McCartney, let's be honest here, while more famous stuff (the Les Paul, for example), you can apply that to a lot of musicians, but the Hofner bass is essentially a signature Paul McCartney bass, it's something everyone looks at and instantly recognizes as being related to him.
