I want to buy myself a violin, since i always wanted to learn it, but i don't know what to look for when i have never played it. Anything you'd recommend?

you mite start by renting one from your local music store if you're really into the concept.
A good violin is a serious investment, and of course you don't want to end up with an instrument and never play it, but maybe stick with a rental for 4 months or so and see how you feel about it.
Violin is pretty fucking tough to get sounding good imo, since it requires the development of a good technique. (Hence why most of my HS orchestras sounded like dogshit)
Only advice I can give though I never played violin

Sadly i haven't seen a store or a place where they would rent violins. Guitars, sure, but that's about it.
I was also thinking about an electric violin, but I'm sceptic.

Get a good teacher. He/she will advise you on everything from buying your first violin to good technique and practice habits.
Violin's a pretty tough instrument to sound decent on, so strap in.

Do you live in a small town? I lived in a pretty small area but I'm sure one of my local music stores that rented wind instruments rented violins.
If you're willing to travel a bit you could certainly just drive to an adjacent city that does rent one and do it.
Personally I'd be skeptical about going electric as well. Might not be a BAD option if it was the only option

Also this, but don't let this discourage you. Violin is a beautiful instrument and if you keep up practicing, then you'll have no trouble with it after a while. There's a point when learning an instrument where everything becomes clear and you start to improve quickly. You could even join a local orchestra or string ensemble, which is a lot of fun.
Personally, I think meeting with a teacher every other week can be a good schedule if you have the resolve to practice daily

I want to give it a try by myself at first tbqh. I learnt most of my instruments by myself, and I'm pretty bad at being taught. Will probably try to look for a teacher if i really can't git gut by myself for a longer time.
I'm willing to invest a lot of time in it since i kinda dreamt of it for over 16 years.

I will most likely practice daily, but like i said, I'd like to try myself before getting a teacher.
