who is your favorite bassist?
mine is jack bruce

Chris Squire of Yes
John Paul Jones for me, dude was the backbone of the band
Victor Wooten, Nathan East, Lee Sklar (until I discovered he is a full blown communist)
I guess session bassists in general. Technically they are better than anyone in a "band" and they play the widest variety of music. Underrated.
Jaco Pastorius, Bootsy Collins, Mike Watt.

All super solid choices. Pic related for me.
Andy Rourke, Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, Peter Hook...

Andy Rourke doesn't get enough credit.
Anthony Jackson, Ray Brown, NHOP, Pino Palladino, Chuck Rainey
Everyone has named some good ones. I'll throw in Stu Hamm
Dominic Lapointe
John Wetton. His playing in King Crimson was monstrous, especially live. He sometimes broke is low E string from how aggressively he played. His improvisation was stellar too.
Entwistle. My favorite drummer is from the Who as well.
I like McCartney much more, but not as a bassist.
John Wetton was fierce. Him and McCartney were and still are my guys
Entwistle

In no particular order......
Phil Lesh
Bootsy Collins
John Entwhistle
Ian "Lemmy" Kilminster
Geddy Lee (And I don't even like Rush, but I gotta admit that the man knows his way around a bass fretboard.)
Sting and Flea know what they're doing.
Sure there are other bassists who could mop the floor with them, but they're not bad.
John Entwhistle, Cliff Burton, Chris Squier, and Mike Watt
Al Cisneros
