Can someone explain modern hip-hop please? I enjoy stuff like Kendrick and Run the Jewels. But so much of it confuses the shit out of me. Like, what's the appeal of Migos? I couldn't dance to that if I tried, it's not music I could relax to either in the same vain as Tribe Called Quest. Or why has that xxxtentacion kid got so much hype? He doesn't sound very distinct and his beats just sound amateur. Should I just chalk it all up as "Not my stuff" or is there something I'm missing with trap and stuff?

you look at the fanbase of people like Migos and XXXTentacion and you see why they have such an appeal.
if it's not your thing, then it's not your thing, simple as that. it's certainly not something you want to venture into if you're looking for lyrics.
