Were they influenced by the Beatles or is that just a meme?

Ish. They were contemporaries and friends. I Wanna Be Your Man was written by Te Beatles and offered to The Stones as a single. They used to coordinate releases so they didn't interfere with them. I don't think The Stones were particularly influenced by them being much more firmly rooted in blues. I think when they went through their little psych period they were probably pulling from The Beatles though.

I remember reading somewhere that one of the Stones hate the Beatles and consider them overrated. Don't remember who though.
