Is there any future in playing rock music? Or will it go the way of the dinosaur like jazz only to be replaced by Hip-Hop and EDM.

Will it go the way of the dinosaur?? It already did dog, there hasn't been a really interesting or important indie rock band since the very early 2000's. Since then everything has just been one or another brand of nostalgia.

I've been playing bass and guitar for like 9 years now, should I just forget about all that and funnel my abilities into electronic production or should I incorporate my instrumental skills into electronic production

It'll never be the dominant mainstream genre again, even though a few rock will songs crack the top 10. But that's fine because top 40 is garbage. Because of the internet, you're niche slowcore jazz fusion hybrid solo project or whatever can be viable as long as you can get a dedicated fan base. Do you really want to make shitty dance music?

Incorporate them and your knowledge of it, honestly. You can't throw that all into the trash so you can probably make some fairly unique synth riffs with your knowledge of non-synth stuff.

this really. I can't believe people push this "rock is dead" bullshit just because there aren't radio singles. If anything, it's more easy to construe this as a good thing. Artists are less concerned about fame and money than ever.
