This. There is no unified "gay culture," but just like any other people there are a lot of them that listen to the same shitty music their friends listen to because that's just what most people do. It's not art or a hobby so much as a sense of belonging for the vast majority of listeners, gay people are no different.

Just because a thing has a desired characteristic, it makes it desired, even when it may not be desirable.
