That's cool. This album is great. I think Frances the Mute is good too but I've never been able to get much into the rest of their stuff. De-loused has great songs but I find Frances the Mute to be an album I remember more for individual moments than for general songs, but they have enough cool moments to warrant that. I found that their sound got less cohesive as it went on. Maybe I should give some of those other albums a try again though.

I have a hard time deciding wether I prefer Frances or De-Loused. I feel like De-Loused is more varied while still maintaining a superb quality, but I love the more progressive approach to their songwriting in Frances.

Jesus Christ finally more people on mu posting about TMV. I've listened to them nonstop for like a year now and I'm still getting more and more into it. I think drloused is probably their best album from start to finish, just because everything ties into each other so flawlessly, but Frances the mute is a close second. Amputechture is their best in my opinion. Day of the Baphomets, Tetragrammaton and Meccamputechture are ridiculously good. And then you get beautiful ballads like Asilos Magdalena (you can't tell spanish is not their first language though).
I love Frances the Mute, but can't help but think that Amputechture surpasses it by a good margin.

Its a really hard choice between the two. Frances is more concise and well put together and has way more memorable and unique harmonies to it. While Amputechture is way more messy, it has an amazing composition in my opinion.
Personally I like how messy it is and how creative it can get with the rythms. It's the most progressive out of all their albums for sure.

I never understood the big importance on lyrics, at lest their substance. What I care about is that the songs sound good. And with that I mean the lyrics need to have a good sound phonetically in the song, the meaning is not that important for me.

Omar said in an interview they named their songs shit that sounded cool after everything in the song was done.
So if their only goal with the lyrics is for them to be like another instrument, to sound good in the song and thats it, they accomplished that shit very well.

Never understood the meaning of their songs tho, maybe in the Frances album a little bit, but nothing else.

Frances the Mute has some good moments but that ridiculous wanky guitar solo during the first track and then the multiple minutes of frogs chirping later on in the album are two unforgivable moments.
