Yes it is. It spawned some good releases and a lot of creative stuff. It was fun while it lasted

It's just such a damn shame that it twisted into this insanely autistic subculture with hoardes of untalented snowflakes and shitkids who literally slowed down Solar Fields tracks and put them out on cassette

It's a shoegaze scenario where the best albums were released at the inception of the genre, where the point wasn't "making a vaporwave album" it was about making something new, silly and endearing that commented on the culture that birthed it.

There's been some pretty good stuff since Eccojams and Far Side Virtual, Blank Banshee and Scared Tapestry standout but since the music is so easy to make everyone and their dog are doing it and the pool of good music becomes diluted beyond reason
