Nu-metal was the nadir of late 20th century American pop culture.

If the rap element had never been overemphasized, and the only nu metal bands had been groups like Korn, Deftones, SOAD, and Roots-era Sepultura, nu metal would probably have actually been respected... and I bet it would've been called groovecore.
