Given a certain poster had a serious problem with clothing definitions last thread, this is a new one to start from scratch so posters don't have to read through his ramblings. Business as usual, just keep the fashion aspects of dark culture down.
Genres:
Post-Punk
Goth Rock
Deathrock
Dark Wave
Cold Wave
Ethereal Wave
Minimal Wave
Horror Punk
Industrial Music
Post Industrial styles like
EBM
Industrial Rock
Neofolk
Dark Ambient
And anything else related to all genres above.

I know they've been talked to death at this point but holy shit can we talk about Wire?

I listened to their whole trilogy once and wasn't impressed but on second and third listens Chairs Missing absolutely blew me away. I'm going back through 154 now and holy shit, this album is unreal. Hard to believe this was released the same year as Unknown Pleasures.

Are any of their other albums worth listening to?
>>
>>73359434
154 is my personal favourite but I think Pink Flag is by far the most popular. Both are a great example of how to get post-punk right.

>Are any of their other albums worth listening to?

Almost all of them. Wire's post-154 output is shockingly overlooked. The only other pioneering post-punk band which has managed to remain as vital as they have for such a long time is The Fall.

Have you listened to Colin Newman's A-Z? Originally slated to be the 4th Wire LP, it turned into Newman's first solo record once the band broke up. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it is on par with the first 3 Wire albums.

That's hard to pinpoint, Bauhaus invented groovy music for goth.

Why live?
>>
>>73360095
At first I thought Chairs Missing was my favorite but the more I listen the harder it is for me to choose. They're all so good at what they do.

>>73360185
Shit, I'll have to check all of these out. I've heard mixed reviews about their output after 154 but the samples you gave are all pretty fantastic, thanks Anon.

They're coming to a smaller venue near me in a few months and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go since according to setlist.fm they rarely play anything off the original trilogy these days but now I'm a lot more interested.

Yeah, the newest material is always their main focus when they play live.
That refusal to just cash in on their legacy and live on old glory is another thing they share with The Fall, and personally I find it to be very admirable.
I would absolutely go see them live if I had the opportunity.

Some coldwave. Been trying to get into it but it's just not doing it for me.
>>
>>73360630
That's an interesting way to look at it. I agree that's a pretty respectable approach even though I would kill to hear Sand In My Joints.

After I get through some more Wire I think The Fall is going to be the next discography I get into. I've only ever listened to Hex Enduction Hour and it was a lot to wrap my head around but also a ton of fun.
