Emo is meaningless. It comes down to whether you stills stand by it's original definition or by the definition the mass culture attributed to it. Either answer is legitimate enough. If the vast, vast majority thinks of emo as something completely different maybe the word just takes a whole new meaning. I mean that is just how language works.
