I'm surprised by all the negative reception this album received. It's a surreal, abstract masterpiece. Spirit wasn't much less offensive with its use noise. Though Danse isn't quite as fantastical, it's still playful and only asks a bit more of the listener than what Spirit required. Geologist said it may be his favorite AnCo record. Most misunderstood album of the 2000s if you ask me. Greatly rewarding listen

secretly the best Sufjan album, but his fanbase is too pleb to realize it. hell, i'd put money on the majority of his fans writing it off simply because its use of vocals is so subtle. i've had friends tell me they're uninterested because it's an instrumental album which would be funny even if it were true, but is doubly so considering it isn't.

Personally I think Pw is more misunderstood, but aside from that I think the most underrated album is Rio by Duran Duran, its literally god tier 10/10 new wave but no one really talks about it
